Wonderful service from Jess ,in the Cheshire barn ,very smiley and welcoming ! All of the barn team were great including Daniel and Joe ! I enjoyed the atmosphere and wonderful pints ,entertainment was wonderful along with a brilliant meal .Thank you Alvaston Hall, especially Jess  !

We stayed here for 4  nights last week from start to finish it was lovely, All staff helpful and friendly, Our waitress Amber was brilliant, the food was great and plenty of it ,Excellent entertainment every night the entertainment team were brilliant and worked hard .We had a signature room 605  in the Fairways it was lovely except  the bathroom door was dirty could do with a clean and a coat of paint ! plenty to do there during the day and Nantwich and Northwich not far to visit by car . We would definitely return and recommend this hotel to,our family and friends ,thank you

My wife and I went to Alvaston Hall last weekend for a chillout. Our suite was superb, the view from our room was very pleasant. The food was excellent and the entertainment was very good. Activities during the day were in abundance so no chance of getting bored. Nearby Nantwich is small but very pleasant town and everything is there. Will be back soon (I hope)

If you like the comfort of familiarity, then Warners does it very well! Always in nice surroundings, very comfortable rooms, lovely staff (especially Amber our waitress and Aom our chambermaid - if you are still allowed to use that term! ), good choice & quality of food, excellent leisure time activities throughout the day & evening. With all that's included it is excellent value for money, especially if you get one of the numerous last minute offers.
And of course the adult only environment makes for a relaxing peaceful break. If you want to explore the local area there are always numerous options available.


Just returned from another excellent weekend at Alvaston Hall.  The entertainment was brilliant (Roy Orbison and the Travelling Wilburys tribute) and as always the hotel entertainment team wer great.  The food, accommodation and service are first class.  Looking forward to our next visit. 

I've stayed at Alvastan a few times and written previous reviews so I won't repeat it all. This visit was with a friend rather than my husband so a time for different activities. Despite a letter telling us we would be checked in on the drive in our car we actually checked in at reception but as it wasn't a typical change over day it was quick and efficient and the lady was very polite and welcoming. And I already knew where to park. We visited the pool and also had a "Spa arty" with Alison where we got to try a lot of TempleSpa products and learn some facial techniques. There was no hard sell and we really enjoyed our hour (and yes we bought some). That was as exciting as we got with our daytime activities I'm afraid it was really a chill break. 
I would say the food is slowly getting back to pre covid standards and the pub restaurant was very well presented and enjoyable. The Market kitchen continues to have problems with coldish food especially at breakfast. I took bacon from the middle of the dish and it was very cold I'm thinking it had been fridged. 
We spent a bit of time in our rooms drinking coffee and chatting they were signature rooms, comfortable, warm and lots of snacks and drinks and perfect for a snowy January in Cheshire. The few teething problems we had were fixed efficiently and very quickly the maintenance man was at the room before my friend got back from reception. 
We watched John Martin comedian on the Thursday night (we were only there for two nights).  We had tried to get into the smaller lounge at quiz time etc but it was always full so we sat elsewhere. However the only "blip" we had was the Thursday morning. We went 3/4hr early to the smaller lounge to watch a presentation by John Martin sadly it was completely full no seats left. We asked at reception if we could take some spare chairs in as to be honest the room wasn't very full of people just no chairs. They said no, health and safety given as the reason. I used to be a health and safety officer the room was no way near its capacity in people or furniture. People kept arriving and leaving but hovering in the hope it would be moved to the larger lounge. I had a conversation with a young man and asked why it couldn't be moved to the large lounge but apparently the reason given was the noise from the staff removing dishes and cutlery from the breakfast sitting would have been distracting. The bar in the smaller lounge isn't that quiet but when more people started to ask the same question about why it couldn't be moved I left. I returned just before it started and this time a charming gentleman who told me he was a senior member of staff said we could bring chairs in so I did get to see the presentation. It was inspirational. John Martin is not just a Scouse comedian he is a brilliant historian and his teaching/presentation skills are wonderful. The subject about the life and death of an SS officer was dry and could have been unappealing. He made it interesting and kept the attention of the audience throughout. There may have been some thoughts that the event was only well attended because it was snowing but I'd actually argue John's reputation may have preceded him. He ended up doing the lecture twice. Warner need to capture this man's skills and others.  I for one would return more if there were more activities like this. I'm sure Warner have tried lectures before maybe not too successfully but cruise ships make it work. I'm going to try and find more John Martin lectures now thanks.

Four nights break. Excellent room, warm and comfortable. Booking in easy and simple. All staff throughout the hotel were friendly, polite and helpful. Food was varied and plentiful. Evening entertainment by both  the entertainment team and visiting artists was first class

Had a lovely couple of days at Alvaston.Lovely room great food and enjoyed the entertainment.John Martin doing his comedy routine and also his serious side on WW2 lectures. Took part in lots of activities and also had some late night dances courtesy of the dj.I would like to bet that it was the first time a dizzee rascal tune has been played there lol also some great Ibiza tracks thank you so much.People do tend to go to leave the entertainment venue quite early, but we certainly made the most of it.  Hope to visit again. Thanks to Lyndsey Damian and all the staff for a great time x

This 2 day break was excellent and cant really fault it, a small minor thing breakfast on first morning ordered the eggs benedict never arrived they were reordered and arrived after 45 minutes and when i said to the waiter who might have been a manager he was in a white shirt with short dark hair that it took 45 minutes to arrive he said that's good and walked away no apology very bad customer service on his behave

The grounds are beautiful, excellent well organised check in, ample safe parking areas.  Staff are all so friendly and make you feel special.  Our room was in the main house, the period features were wonderful.  Space and facilities in room were of a high standard although a little tired in parts such as the shower tiling.  Food was very well presented and we were looked after by friendly staff.  Well done to the chefs all meals ere very tasty and a good choice offered.  Entertainment both resident and guest musicians, singers was superb.  I cannot recommend Warner breaks highly enough.  Excellent value and an enjoyable experience.   Thank you

First time at a Warner Hotel.  Room spacious and very clean.  Food acceptable, not always very hot and could do with more variety. Entertainment good although far, far, far too loud.  We were in a party of approx 40 and everybody made the same comment about the extent of the volume, it became uncomfortable.  It actually spoiled the voices of the singers, made the ladies sound screechy and I'm sure they're not. We enjoyed the archery and laser shooting although that was limited because one of the targets wasn't working.  Quiz good fun. One thing everbody complained about was the cost of the drinks,  £10.50 for a glass of wine and £30 for a bottle is way too expensive.

Overall good but in need of a few tweaks

We have just returned from a weekend break at Alveston.  We were in a large party of 21 and as always had a great time.  We participated in the shooting and archery which were great fun and the girls who supervised were very friendly.  The pool was a good size where you could get some serious exercise if you wanted.  The jacuzzi was extremely hot, nice if you can take the heat!
Accommodation:  there was a problem with the heating and there were actually huge fan heaters in the main dining/theatre room.  This was a shock as we did feel the chill on occasions and at Warner's you can normally say its too warm!  By the end of the weekend the heating was much better.  Bedrooms were the standard fare but they could have been a tad cleaner.  Our room had cobwebs in the bathroom and I doubt that the carpet had been hoovered during our stay too (I wore a dress which sheds sequins and these were on the carpet the whole weekend).  USB chargers in the bedroom would be a welcome addition (we went to Holme Lacy in December and they had these).
Food:  Good selection and tasty but compared to recent trips the range of dishes was noticeably less.  Breakfast was the same each day - a little more variety would have been nice.  The restaurant staff were all young but did their job admirably and we never waited long for drinks or menu selections.  Thank you.  We had several coffees in the bars/lounges and these were poor.  They were weak in taste and just not hot - I did ask for an extra hot latte only to be told the coffee machine set the temperature!  We didn't eat lunch or have a scone as we felt these were just ridiculously expensive.  
Evening entertainment:  The Blackjacks were great - this was the resident house band and they got people on the dancefloor whenever they were performing.  Sing Baby Sing were excellent, as usual, and we really enjoyed their set.  The resident entertainment team performed a Musical Medley on the Sunday, which was really really good BUT on occasions a little too loud.  We like to have a boogie and were disappointed that it was announced that there was no disco on the Sunday night after the entertainment.  This was only 11 pm - not all residents of Warner's want to go to bed this early!  However the music did carry on till just after midnight so we were happy to carry on dancing.  
So, we had a great time as always (not difficult in a large group of people) but we felt that Warner's were cutting corners.  Not enough variety of dishes in the restaurant each night, someone needs to look to change the coffee machines and the cleaning in the bedrooms could be better.

Return to Alvaston since before Covid

Our stay date was from September 13th/19th. 
Our overall stay was very good, our room a Royale Suite was excellent. Well looked after by Becky. Food was a little disappointing compared to other Warners stays. The Market Kitchen was basically a free for all, with no choice from a menu, the eggs in both restaurants were poorly cooked and presented. The Barn however did offer a choice from the menu, but there were items missing from the menu daily.  Entertainment was first class. The comedian was brilliant, the solo singer and the band were excellent. The grounds of Alvaston were in excellent condition. Bar prices were a little steep. On the whole staff were very pleasant, and the entertainments team did a good job.  

Overall a very good stay. However there were a few niggles

  As always, I enjoyed my stay at Alvaston Hall. Staff helpful and friendly, particularly evening server Oliver.  Plenty to do during the day - room comfy and clean, pillows very soft and comfy.  Food a little disappointing, as the hotel has gone to full buffet service in the main restaurant, which created a bit of a free for all and some problems for those with mobility issues.  Rifle shooting and line dancing the highlights of my stay; evening entertainment up to the usual good Alvaston Hall standard.  Proximity to Nantwich, a lovely town, a plus for me.  All in all, to be recommended, though please bring back table service.

Yet another good Alvaston  Hall break.

Warners do it well!

Excellent stay. Comfy rooms, fluffy robes and towels. Delicious meals, excellent choice, good vegetarian selection too. Very useful having 'your' own table. For the duration of our stay, we could eat, wander, return for entertainment without the worry of finding a table or your companions! Decent swimming pool with jacuzzi, steam room & sauna - also a gym but I didn't venture into there.
