Attended "Supper Club" on Friday night which according to the posters is monthly on the 3rd Friday.  This was first one I've been to. Food was great. Nice and tasty and very good value for 3 courses. There was also entertainment booked, a local band, for the night. Great night. Band was entertaining, food was good and the atmosphere was good fun. Even the barman got to sing a song!
Booked for the next supper club already and highly recommend.

Really friendly landlord.  Tea was really good, the waitress was nice and helpful. Room was clean and presentable.  Pub side had been done out nicely m.  Would definitely go again.  Thank you for a nice stay.

Great pub, family friendly and food available should you require. Entertainment such as pool, juke box and darts available. Been going here years as it's my local. Always a plus when friendly dogs are allowed 😊🐶 

The anchor 

We stopped here for lunch while doing a circular walk from March to Wimblington and back. The mother of the owner came over to chat with us and was very friendly. She said her son had recently taken over the place (he came and chatted with us, too) and they are making changes. We both had sandwiches with chips and they were very good. Menu has a lot of different items to choose from. Would certainly go back there if we were in the area again.

Nice, clean, friendly pub

Under new management now and a great improvement on the food always has what's on the menu and is well cooked.
Staff very friendly and helpful.
Yes it still needs a bit more decorating done but they are getting there .
Overall its well worth a visit.

The Anchor

A pub with great potential. The new management ( since December 2015) clearly have work in progress  to create a cosy and comfortable village pub.  The staff were very welcoming and we were made to feel at home.

We visited for Sunday lunch and we noticed that we were the only diners - slightly concerning. Whilst there was a Sunday roast advertised which together with a comprehensive menu, provided for alternative choices. My companions opted for the "light bite" fish and chips. whilst I selected the meat pie.  The fish was deemed a great disappointment by both friends; my meat pie was, on the other hand, good.  We all had sweets which were also good, so just about value for money. overall.

The management are trying hard but clearly have some way yet to go to up their game.

Great potential

You try and choose local venue's to support local businesses but never again here.
The table was tacky and not cleaned and the toilet had mould on the wall.

To be fair the younger barman tried to be helpful but lacked training.
The food was adequate at best and being told "no they didn't have any sauce at all" for the food was bizarre and nor believable, just an excuse not to help.

The loud guy, assume he was the Landlord was just rude and just seemed to want to play court with a couple.
Every one of our group sad he was one of the most unpleasant people encountered and should never work in this environment.

When we came to pay there was a real reluctance to give us our change, like we were expected to tip, directly after the so called landlord saying very loudly that he doesn't like people sitting around in the restaurant after their meals when the coffee had only just arrived. 

Spend your money elsewhere

What an Attitude.

We were staying in the area and went into the Anchor Inn for some food. The only good thing we can say is the pub has been renovated and was nice inside. We arrived at 19:05 on a Saturday evening, the barman was sitting drinking with others and there was two people dining in the restaurant. We asked if they were doing food which the barman said he wasn't sure and would have to ask the kitchen as they were closing! We got our drinks and sat down, the barman then came over 5 mins later and said if you want food order it now but your going to have to be quick....This is the point were we should have left however there wasn't anywhere in walking distance that we knew of. The food arrived and it was ok nothing special. The guy serving us didn't talk and the barman was rude and obnoxious.

Awful Stay Clear!

Husband and I are on a very short break in the area so decided to pick a local pub rather than going to a big chain. Went today, early afternoon to grab a bite to eat. Reviews seemed ok so we thought worth trying. 

Landlord was quite sharp and unwelcoming and seemed annoyed we asked for the food menu. It was 1.40pm. We asked if they were still serving food and very rudely he said: "Just". It felt like he was doing us a favour. We bought a couple of drinks before ordering food. 

I ordered the classic burguer and my husband the sausage and onion baguete. Baguette was ok ish but the burger was undercooked, one of those flat burgers you buy frozen at the supermarket and the potato wedges were more oil than anything else. Should have taken a picture but was so disgusted and did not finish my meal.

Very sad as I am definitely not a fussy eater at all and love to help local businesses to thrive but unfortunately I am leaving this review as 1) customer service was very poor and 2) food was disgusting. Real shame and I am sure they serve good food, unfortunately not when we went there. 

The day before we went to another local pub and the service and food were great. Again, sad to make comparisons but I am sure they know they did bad early this afternoon. I hope they realise that at least.

Disgusting Food

I was in the Anchor Inn early this evening an was disgusted by the Landlord berating three elderly women because they had complained about the food. He actually went so far as to bar them from the pub. They were no trouble and he bawled them out in front of everybody.  We left the pub after the women had left as we were appalled at the way they were treated.  They were very upset.
