Check-in was quick and friendly. The room was better than expected. Very comfortable, spacious and warm.

Easy, quick check-in.  Very nice room with all of the essentials.Good food - excellent breakfast.

Another stop off on route to Reading, yet again spot on, very comfortable room, excellent food/refreshments.

Great accommodation, quality breakfast, no information offered about accommodation on check in, just handed key.

A very beautiful property, the rooms are very doacious and modern. We enjoyed the breakfast and the staff were so helpful.

Last minute booking - very happy with level of service and quality of food

I have stayed twice in the space of a month as work is bringing me to the East Midlands. Rooms are home from home, spacious, well equipped and comfortable. Parking right outside is helpful. Food is exceptional. The room rate includes a fabulous breakfast which boasts lots of choice. Both visits I’ve had dinner in the Gastro Pub which is superb. Service is super friendly, nothing is too much trouble and the welcome is warm. Location is great for anywhere in the East Midlands. I don’t love working away but I now look forward to my business trips to the Midlands so I can stay here.

Lovely place with excellent breakfast.Nice rooms.

The staff were very attentive. They made good the missing towrls and tea. The restaurant is very good.

Firstly great dinner! Service was OK, bit of a wait, but overall good.
Stayed for the night as well, rooms are lovely all you need comfortable and clean.
Breakfast was really good.
The reason for 4 and not 5 is I do not like it that 95% of the space is all set up for dining, all you have is a room out back to chill and it is not very welcoming, after dinner I would of really liked to have retired to a lounge bar and sat down away from the dining room to have a couple more drinks before bed , as it was we took a drink to the room as these was nowhere to sit apart from the dining table we had been sat around for the past 2 hours. Just a small area set up on a few tables later in the evening in the bar area not with knives and forks would be more welcoming to have an extra drink …..

Home from home, exceptional food and service

We were back in the area in the last few days to visit family and, as usual, stayed at the Royal Oak for a couple of nights.  And, as usual, we had a great time in one of their great rooms, comfortable, with all the facilities and within staggering distance of their great restaurant

Good, as usual

The rooms are lovely and surprising large with an en-suite plus everything you expect to find in a AA 4 star rated. The rooms are separate to the pub and have their own parking space directly outside the room. The Garden Room serves lovely meals with a menu that would cater for most people. The staff are very friendly and accommodating. We would definitely return and I highly recommend it.

Excellent accommodation

When we stayed at The Royal Oak, the pub was unfortunately closed for refurbishment, but we were called beforehand and told about this. The bedrooms are in separate buildings outside and ours was lovely! It was tastefully furnished and spotlessly clean. Dinner was served in the function room. We didn’t have dinner as we were out at a sports event, but if breakfast was anything to go by I’m sure it was good. Breakfast was delicious with a good choice of dishes and large portions. The three members of staff that we met, the man who helped with our TV, the lady who cleaned our room and the lady who worked at breakfast (sorry, no names) were all very friendly and helpful. Thank you all. We will definitely stay again next year!

Great place to stay

Always stay here when visiting family. The rooms are lovely, the staff are welcoming and the food is great!!

Arrived in time for lunch - sandwiches which came with chips and a little mug of soup and a nice bottle of red wine!!

Breakfast was delicious, brilliant sausages and bacon - yum!

The manager/owner was very friendly and originally came from our neck of the woods, so we had plenty to talk about. 

Will definitely be back when we next visit family!!

As good as always!!

This was a delightful find. A very different establishment, with cottage like rooms,  were tastefully furnished, providing the high level required at an affordable price. The well appointed restaurant offered an eclectic mix of fayre. Well cooked, well presented. Perfect. A great find which I highly recommend.

Amazing location, food in the Restaraunt was well priced and tasted great! The room was lovely and had the benefit of parking outside the room, brilliant night sleep! At the back of the rooms was a great view of the countryside and also has a table at the back so you can just sit and watch the world go by

Quiet and peaceful

We have stayed a number of times while visiting our son at Nottingham uni. And stayed in a different room every time. This weekend we stayed in room 5 and it was the biggest one yet. After a long motorway journey the room is  a welcome sanctuary. The beds are enormous and very comfortable, with a tv and drinks tray including bottled water. The toiletries are so lovely with the best scent. Everything has been thought of. The breakfast has a choice of a number of hot dishes as well as cereal, pastries, yogurts and fruits. Very tasty. We shall be back.

A comfortable sanctuary

Stayed here for a party in their really nice, separate event building- modern, airy and well set up. Staff at the event were really good- friendly, efficient and hard working- well done!
The rooms are of a good standard with excellent shower rooms and facilities, parking directly outside.
Cannot really comment on the restaurant for obvious reasons but the breakfast was good, cooked to order with a broad choice. Again, great staff adding up to a lovely one night stay at pretty good value!
