Lovely room with the most comfy pillows ! I wanted to take them home , clean and really comfy sleep . Hosts were great especially Elaine who was so kind and helpful . Pub is proper old fashioned just how it should be in a beautiful setting , definitely would stay again

We were at the a George & Dragon for drinks and dinner after our 4-day Herriot Way walk.  Pub was warm and cozy with a lovely vibe to it.  We ordered an excellent Cider with a side of heavenly fat fries.  😛

Went back for dinner and every dish was just excellent and way better  than what I had expected.  The Steak and Ale pie…., Garlic Creamy Mushrooms, Pork Terrine with Raisins…. And the lamb skewers!  Yummmmmm. 

Highly recommend the pub to anyone!!! 😃

Proper pub (good Yorkshire bitters on tap) with hearty pub food, and reasonably priced.  Eight of us ate there on a Saturday night.  Nice welcoming vibe from Elaine at the bar.  They had been very accommodating beforehand in sorting out some vegan options for the meal.  Everybody thought the food was good (probably best Hunter’s Chicken I’ve ever had!).  Based on our experience, I find some of the comments in other reviews baffling.

We booked a last minute 2 night stay with our 2 dogs & we weren’t disappointed.

We were greeted by Elaine & Collette to their cosy & characterful pub. The bars prices were very reasonable & you can’t fault the service. The rooms were very clean & spacious while the bed was comfy.

The breakfasts were hearty but the winner was definitely the evening menu, which was delicious. There was so much to choose from & again very reasonably priced. Definitely worth a visit.

There are plenty of lovely walks direct from the hotel of you can visit nearby attractions.

Welcoming staff, spotlessly clean and delicious food! What more could you want after a days walking!
The chef even made us a vegetarian meal of spinach and mushroom lasange, which was so tasty and much appreciated. The breakfast is cooked perfectly with lots on your plate! Rooms are  very clean and the shower hot and great!

Was looking for a place to have a drink in Aysgarth. Walked to the George and Dragon at 3.15 and it said it opened at 4pm. The landlady saw us and asked us we wanted a drink. Went in and had a couple of rounds. Nice chat with landlady talking about pub and the surrounding area.  Would call in again if in the area

We arraived in Aygarth on holiday and decided quite late to see if we could get dinner at the George and Dragon. They could not have been more welcoming and helpful, giving us a menu to look at while we had a drink at the bar,  and found us a table in the dining room as soon as they could. Good beer, great food and a friendly pub.
We didn't have a room here so cannot comment on the hotel itself, but the pub is first class

While staying at Colmans in our Motorhome we used the pub for drinks and 2 evening meals .Lovely person running the pub
Nice welcome and great service.The evening meals we had were very good value for money and really good quality

Room very clean and comfortable, spacious en suite with all that we needed. The quality of breakfast and evening meal was above expectation. Breakfast made to order and a great choice. Evening meal was good quality produce and cooked well. We were made very welcome and nothing was too much trouble. Would stay here again

Had a very nice one night stop at the George and Dragon a hotel steeped in history. It’s in a great location to walk to Aysgarth falls  and we also did a circular walk to Castle Bolton 9miles ) from the car park. Rooms comfortable and evening meal and breakfast lovely. It’s a very old building so you have to accept the owners need to work with some constraints ie low ceilings but they have done very well.

We booked a two night stay here week between Christmas and new year for 2 nights. 

Arrived and shown to our room by the owner, there was a slight mix up as we’d booked a delux double room with spa bath, we firstly was given a room with a shower my partner spoke to the owner who then gave us a room with a standard bath (they where fully booked). (Room2) 

Room was pleasant with a beautiful wooden four poster bed, tastefully decorated and spotlessly clean .. tv was in an awkward place so couldn’t be watched from the bed, bathroom had a beautiful roll top bath although it was like an icebox. 

First night we had dinner in the restaurant, food was lovely and plentiful and not overly expensive, the owner and her daughter was very attentive and nothing was too much trouble, we had an excellent nights sleep as it’s so peaceful. Bar closed around 10:10:30pm 

2nd night, we where informed that they’d run out of gas so no heating however we where provided with electric heaters to keep our rooms warm which was adequate. Again we sat in the bar chatting to the owner and her daughter, two lovely very friendly ladies who are attentive to their guests needs. 

We went to bed early and although we could hear the people downstairs it didn’t disturb us (the dog in the next room did at 6am) .. 

I don’t think I would stay here again as it’s dated however that’s a personal choice, the place need’s money spending on it but in the current climate you can understand why it hasn’t been done. The rooms are spotlessly clean and the staff are amazing, i would recommend this to older couples looking for homely. 

Ohh the breakfast is spot on, all locally sourced produce and cooked fresh, full English, smoked Salmon, cereals, yoghurt, toast, tea, coffee and fresh juices were all on offer .. food fit for royalty 👸

Comfy Pillows !

I was initially wary of the poor reviews left by others. I booked a last minute dinner slot and from entering the pub to finishing the meal, it was first class. A very good experience, with excellent and friendly service. I rate it very good value for money. and deserving of 5 stars.
