Hotel Blue Waves

We booked this hotel mainly due to the location - in the centre of town close to the shopping areas and stayed 3 nights. We found it was also within walking distance of the local beach, Fort Frederick and the Koneswaram temple. Also what we didn't realise is that there is another trendy beach area at Uppuveli Beach which was easy to get to from the hotel by Tuk Tuk or by walking. This hotel has a sister hotel there with pool and spa facilities - however we ran out of time to visit there. Our hotel was modern with a double and single bed in our room and we requested early morning tea delivered to the room with no problem. The staff were really friendly and helpful and we ate there one night. Breakfast is served on the front courtyard and dinner is also served there. However on the night we ate there it was a religious festival and no alcohol was allowed at the front so they accommodated us on the upstairs lounge area where they served dinner and drinks without problem. I think generally alcohol is not served here but there is no problem to bring your own back to the hotel. One small point - the hotel only accepts cash - no credit cards - which we were aware of and we were able to pay in both USD and local currency.
