Inn on the Bay, located 300m from the beach, offers small bungalows with air conditioning, for some. Despite a difficult situation (shortage of oil and food) Ashok, manager and cook, always made us very good meals.

A warm home and a very good and copious kitchen

So that was an interesting encounter last week. My 2 friends and i were on our way to trincomale and since our tuktuk "chandler" is not exactly what you call fast or furious, we decided to spend the Night in passikudah. 
When we rocked up at inn on the bay, the owner greeted us with a warm "how many nights? You have to pay now". Before even thinking of getting our wallet out, we asked to have a look at the room.
He wasn't happy about the request but showed us the very basic room and told us the price. 
My friend wantrd to start haggeling but didn't even get to finish his sentence. The owner turned around, shaked his had and kicked us out. Just like that. 
As simple "no, i am sorry, thats the fibal price" would have been enough. But we're actually super glad, because this is how we ended up at ashram accomandations just a few streets further. Loveliest family, most comfortable rooms for low budget travellers!

Rude and also a bit chubby

We enjoyed our stay here for two nights. Although the property is not beachfront it is close enough to easily walk. It has nice grounds and our room with air conditioning was very clean. Staff were also very helpful and restaurant food was very good. Very good value.

Nice Visit

I booked this hotel for a week to get some relaxation. It worked wonderfully. It's just a stone's throw from the beach, and I could even borrow the bike from the manager to explore the area. The staff and he were super friendly and very helpful in all matters. The bungalows are in a beautiful garden and invite you to relax. The breakfast was very good and on request I also got a dinner (off season). The price-performance ratio was outstanding. I can recommend this hotel with a good conscience.

It's a wonderful family hotel.

I stayed at the lodge with my parents for three nights. The manager is super hardworking and takes care of every concern. The breakfast is totally delicious and inexpensive. In the evening you can choose between different fish dishes and a vegetarian dish. We can simply recommend it!! :-)

It's great accommodation.

It's a very cozy place, with a very nice staff. It's got its own atmosphere, it's simple and pleasant, the individual houses solve the soundproofing problem and the neighbors in general. There's no passport, only genuine friendliness. And by the way, it's very convenient location: two different beaches, a shop, a bar - everything you need!

Nice place!

There are very few small restaurants around the big hotels, three or four at most, so we tried them out. The Inn of the Bay is under a pretty nice, very clean, small shed. The reception is smiling. The meal was cheap, I was content with vegetables, especially eggplants. Everything was pretty bland.

Any meal

We came here on the rebound from our booked accommodation, which had closed.
We were not disappointed, although we would have preferred one of the garden cabanas. Never the less we had a very clean air conditioned rooms in the main building.
We also had very good food here prepared to order, at reasonable prices.

A Peaceful Haven

A decent room in a small bungalow in the middle of a well-maintained garden! The situation is top, just a few steps from the beach! The host's hospitality and kindness are incredible, as is his kitchen, which he will gladly open to the most curious/gourmet of you!

Great hospitality, perfect location, delicious food

If you want to avoid the resorts! Nice cabins with outdoor bathroom, in the very sense of in the open sky. Convenient for both the passikudah beach and the kalkudah beach, both beautiful! The owner is not the most courteous, rather he should strive to be more courteous to his guests, fortunately his employee was more kind and available to us. Given the little sympathy we felt towards the owner we did not try the restaurant. Breakfast can't be made there... However, the room is clean, spacious, well equipped and definitely immersed in nature and its noise. The beautiful location convinced us to stay one more night!
