Sheraton Kosgoda Turtle Beach Resort

Nice hotel, we stayed at Sheraton 12 nights, spacious rooms, friendly and helpful staff, opulent breakfast, big swimming pool, most of rooms have sea view. Welcome ceremony for new guests. Last night we were offered by the hotel manager a High tea for free (probably because we stayed there so long), this made a memorable impression to us. Sandy beach just in front of the hotel, clean sea however big waves (April) even adults might have problems. The beach by the hotel is about 1Km wide, nice and without rocks, however the whole coastline is rocky, almost no possibility to swim. I would say better beach is in Bentota (12 km away), however more people there. Anyway we were happy on the hotel’s beach, because we were almost alone and romantic scenery especially at sunset. Kosgoda is a small village with limited shop possibilities, modern supermarket cca. 500 meters away, ATM, some local grocery shops. We went also to Hikkaduwa beach, but were disappointed, too many people, hotels, rocks, no shade. The excursions organized by the travel agency were quite expensive, we were lucky to meet Amal Perera by chance, he lives in Kosgoda and we went on two excursions together, Sinharaja rain forest and Udawalawe NP by car for a very reasonable price.
