We booked the big ground floor room in the back because we wanted an extra bed which happened to bed an inconfortable small sofa bed.
The room is huge but half empty. We didn't even have a second chair inside for the 2 of us.
And most of all: the smell was terrible!!! . We told the owner about it but nothing changed. And I don't think it could have because a bad smell came from the bathroom as well as from the ac. 
Like a sewer smell and a garbage smell at the same time. Disgusting... 
We would have leave if we hadn't already paid the 50$ a night already. 
On top of it, drapes, cushions and mosquito net are quite dirty. 
The breakfast is average if you're not too hungry (fruit salad, toasts, one egg and a cup of tea /coffee) 
The ladies owners are ok even if they did nothing about our problem. 
The location is perfect for surfers because plantation surf spot is just across the street but as it is next to the road, it's really noisy. 

All in all, it's a really bad ratio confort/price. Don't be fooled by the official photos and don't book the useless big room on the ground floor!! 


Overpriced smelly room

We stayed here for 3 nights and were very happy with Sun & Soul. The rooms were immaculate and we had the sea view room which was spacious and had a nice view of the ocean. The owner was lovely and so helpful with anything we asked of her. For example when we checked in our air con wasn't working properly. We went for dinner and by the time we returned she had the technician fix it and left us a block of chocolate on the bed. She also helped us organise tuk tuks for the day and made good coffee. The only thing we didn't like was that the road was noisy but this is unavoidable with anywhere along the beach. Overall, we rate this place highly and would stay again.

Loved this place

We were so happily surprised, this was easily the biggest room we stayed in which was such a luxury. The room was tidied each morning and the cleanliness was amazing. We stayed at the back on the ground floor and just loved it. Nikol was a lovely host, very helpful and has a nice little cafe area to have coffee and breakfast in the morning. We met some other lovely travellers here and all in all just a great place. They only have a few rooms so they give you full attention to detail and the facilities are fantastic. 

Huge amazing room, great location, LOVED! 

This place is unbelievably wonderful.
When I came here I was welcomed by two awesome souls! 
The cafe looks very nice and cozy. After entering the room I was convinced that this was the place where I would love to spend my last days of my trip; it was beautiful with a stylish interior, an AC and very comfy bed :-)
The owner of sun & soul puts so much afford and love into this place! It is absolutely lovely!

Such a lovely place 

Our two-day stay at the Sun & Soul in Midigima was fine. The rooms were fine, the bathroom was badly ventilated and there were some crabs on the floor, but what else to do at these temperatures, all half as wild. The service was also ok, although not overwhelming and mega-legendary, as we were used to by local hosts, but mostly ok. The breakfast in the small café was very tasty and freshly prepared and the other small snacks were also good, but these are relatively much more expensive for the small portions.

We had hoped for more / price-performance ratio not optimal

An unpleasant experience. Ordered soy lattes, which were luke warm and extremely weak and milky in a huge glass. Upon requesting a stronger coffee with less milk (a standard latte), the woman that owns the place became extremely defensive and told us to "go and get a good coffee somewhere else". Avoid at all costs. Overpriced and the worst service I have ever experienced.

Bad coffee and even worse service

Chouette small human-sized guesthouse. I stayed there 5 nights, the rooms are simple but everything is air conditioned (very nice and even indispensable when it's 30 degrees at night), very comfortable bed with a firm mattress as I like them, hot water running nickel even if not indispensable given the temperatures. Nikol does his best to make the stay pleasant despite the uncertainties associated with Sri Lanka namely, power outage (generally 30 minutes on average a day in all the places I've done) and even water outage (Nikol even learned to bring a truck to replenish the reservoirs of the guesthouse so that we barely got the problem).

Cool.

Nikol helped us with everything we needed to rent a motorcycle, what to visit, restaurants everything you need. his house is very nice, offers some delicious breakfasts and meals. if we returned to midigama gama sure we would stay here.
