Haus am Strand on the Beach

It was the second time that we stayed at the Haus am Strand. We love the charming and luxurious atmosphere there. We enjoyed the lovely garden and the direct access to the beach. The host and owner is extremely friendly and helpful (speaks English and German). We deeply regretted that we could  stay only one day.

Perfect Couples’ Getaway!

Our two-night stay was absolutely perfect! The location was ideal—peaceful yet close to everything. The room was spotless, beautifully designed, and incredibly comfortable. We slept wonderfully on the cozy bed, and every detail was thoughtfully arranged. The service was outstanding—warm, welcoming, and attentive without being intrusive. From start to finish, everything exceeded our expectations. Highly recommend for a romantic escape—we’ll definitely be back!

We really enjoyed our stay. It is very convenient for good local restaurants and close to a Spar supermarket. The studio we stayed in was airy, clean and had a well kitted out kitchen for two.
The beach is wonderful.
Although being on the coast means gentle winds which cool the property, a/c as an option would be good for hot nights.
Overall, highly recommend H am Strand.

A perfect stay,  clean room, great location and wonderful hosts.  Restaurants are within easy walking distance.   Beach is at the end of the garden and lovely ealking walking trails within easy reach.  We thought it was good value for money and would definitely stay here again.

The location was superb and we were delighted with the accommodation we booked. The hosts were were always available to offer advice on walks , restaurants and other local amenities. The property is situated on one of the most beautiful beaches you will ever walk. Nearby there are excellent places to eat and these are only a few minutes walk away . The kitchen facilities allowed us to prepare breakfast and snacks and enjoy the amazing views. We had good parking at the property. I would recommend the accommodation as the perfect place to stay in Wilderness.

First point to mention is the location. Property name and description 100% accurate…you would struggle to get much closer to the beach without risk of getting wet! 
A secluded garden, dotted with loungers, parasols, tables and seats leads to a path and steps which gives direct beach access. And oh what a beach! Wilderness beach is divine. Wide, stretching for miles and often deserted, it really is stunning and offers glorious opportunities to walk, jog or simply relax. The ocean breakers were often a challenge but great fun so long as treated with respect. There is a limited lifeguard service and of course, would only recommend swimming where they are located. 
One point to mention, to continue a walk east along the beach, the river Touws has to be crossed. Quite an adventure best done at low tide when the water is around knee deep!
As for our experience of Haus am Strand…excellent! We were welcomed by Nick who helped us with our luggage and gave us information about the property and nearby facilities.
We spent a week in the Ocean Suite situated on the first floor and would highly recommend. The views of the ocean and beach from the balcony (and bed!) were amazing. Best uninterrupted sea view I have experienced in over 40 years of traveling.
The suite was spacious and had everything we needed including a well appointed kitchenette which was great for preparing breakfast or a spot of lunch if required.
Rita and team run a quality establishment here and do so with pride and genuine care for guests. This we appreciated very much 😊
On a practical level, all services such as supermarket, pharmacy and some good restaurants are a few minutes walk away. Access is either by crossing the N2 (busy during the day) or a short underpass. Both the road and underpass are not well lit at night so take one of the torches available in the property.
A lovely week and we would very happily return. Thank you all 🥰

Wonderfully located right on the beach. Private and peaceful surroundings. Very close to restaurants and shops. 

An excellent choice! Easy to find, good parking, stunning views from the rooms, and the garden gate leads directly onto the sandy beach. We were in an upstairs suite, with a very comfortable bed, bathroom with jacuzzi bath and effective shower, neat and well equipped kitchen, and a balcony with that amazing view of the beach. Highly recommended!

Great venue and even better location. 40 metres from the beach. Conveniently located within walking distance to shops and restaurants. Friendly and efficient host. Amazing holiday in an amazing location.

Such an ideal holiday retreat. Prefect location and great accommodation. Relaxed feel, but with all the amenities and right on the beach. Walking distance to great restaurants. We will be back again soon

Charming and luxurious accommodation in Wilderness

Beautiful guest house with a lovely sweeping lawn leading to the ocean.The beach is perfect for a walk before heading into the village for breakfast just a 10 minute walk across the road to restaurants and coffee shops. Danny was a good host and we would recommend staying here if you’re staying in Wilderness.

Perfect Wilderness Stay

We really enjoyed our stay at Haus am strand. The location is excellent. Views to the beach and the sea are stunning. 10 minute walk to a great choice of bars and restaurants, a supermarket and a large wine store. You do have to use the underpass or cross the N2  but it was not too busy and easy to cross safely.

Our room was stylish, spacious and comfortable with a well equipped kitchen. We had a fan but aircon would have been helpful.

The beach is terrific though there were a lot of blue bottle jellyfish washed up which put us off going into the water.

The hosts were very welcoming and helpful with advice on local restaurants and attractions.

from the moment we checked in to the moment we checked out it was fantastic. friendly and extremely accommodating, we loved it so much we stayed another night and the gentleman at reception put us in the most amazing room upstairs. rooms exquisitely kitted out and clean, view amazing DEFINITELY BE BACK 

ABSOLUTE PARADISE

My sister stayed at this guest house after her air bnb booking was a disaster.
Kobus, the manager came to her rescue and offered her a beautiful room in Haus am Strand.Kobus really went out out his way to accommodate her in difficult circumstances. The location is super and the accommodation very clean, modern and relaxing, on the beach. Lovely room with a small kitchenette with everything you need, even lots of candles and a  rechargeable light to use during loadshedding. The staff is very friendly and helpful. Cindy was always there to help my sister up the steps to the car. I can defintely recommend this guest house
