We had our wedding here in 2003, so this review is dated and to be fair I haven't been since so I don't know the current conditions. It was a fantastic hotel to host a wedding - the food was superb, the staff were attentive and helpful and the venue is majestic. A wonderful place to stay, unlike any other. 

Lovely 

Firstly let me qualify this review by stating that I don't go to Bucharest for a "nice" time. Bucharest is a place to experience and enjoy - it's not Vienna or Paris - it's a place that involves you. Thus Lebada for me is the place to stay. Firstly it's miles away from the clogged, traffic ridden centre - sat on a lake surrounded by real people in real houses. No tourists whatsoever round here. The building is magnificent and you'll burn up reams of film just trying to capture it. The grounds are tidy and well maintained. The rooms are Communist in style but perfectly comfortable with huge ceilings and nice bathrooms. The food in the restaurant is excellent if you know what you're buying - it's well presented and my only tip is "be daring". There's a pool at the back of the hotel and tennis courts. I love it. A proper Romanian hotel, not an American interpretation.

I loved it

First of all, let me limit this assessment by saying that I am not going to Bucharest to spend a nice stay there. Bucharest must be experienced and enjoyed - it's not Vienna or Paris - it's more of a place that connects you. Thus Lebada is the ideal hotel for me. First of all, it's miles away from the congested and traffic-dominated center - I was sitting by a lake surrounded by the right people and houses. There really isn't a single tourist here. The building is great and you're probably going to shoot several movies trying to capture its atmosphere. The gardens are kept clean and well lit. The rooms are typically communist in style, but it's easy to make in a nice hotel, but it's a nice place to eat, and you know what's best for you is that it's a nice hotel with a nice dining room and a nice dining room.

Let me tell you first of all that I'm not going to Bucharest to have a nice time. Bucharest is a city to live and love (it's not Vienna or Paris) and it touches you. So the Lebada is in my opinion the hotel to go to. First of all, it's miles from the traffic-infested and blocked downtown; it's located near a lake and surrounded by authentic people living in authentic houses. Not the least tourist on the horizon. The building is beautiful and you spend a lot of money on movies just trying to film. The gardens are well maintained. The communist-style bathrooms are perfectly fitted with beautiful beaches and hotels, but you'll find that the hotel is an excellent hotel.

First of all it is kilometers away from the center that is always clogged with traffic; it is located on the shore of a lake and is surrounded by real people in real houses. In this area you will not even see a tourist. The building is magnificent and you will consume rolls on rolls trying to capture its essence. The garden is tidy and well kept. The rooms are in communist style, but really cozy; with very high floors and bathrooms.

Don't go to them.

Ok maybe I'm just used to US style/standard hotels but this was nothing special.  The public parts of the hotel and the grounds are beautiful but the rooms themselves a little worn and even shabby in some parts, although at least there was plenty of hot water (a pet hate).  For a so called 'quiet' night or two at the start/end of a trip it might be ideal (as long as it is only hotel guests using the hotel), but for sightseeing or touring Bucharest its a little too far out - find something more central.  The night we stayed we had the unfortunate experience of having a music video being filmed in the grounds and on the front main steps of the hotel - we felt unwelcome in the bar and were not allowed to explore the grounds at night due to the crew keeping us away, not to mention the noise.  All in all, ok but nothing special
