We’ve just had four amazing days at the Herdade Amália with Felipe, an outstanding host. Beautiful views of the nearly secluded beach down below the property, with a lovely pool to keep the little people happy. 

Most of the fruit and veg come straight from the property grounds, and it absolutely shows.

As I’m writing this, the little person is now sound asleep and I am enjoying the sound of the waves crashing and a hint of fado blowing in the wind. Bliss.

A fab family holiday

A unique place to relax and enjoy nature! 5 meters away on foot! and a natural swimming pool over the sea.. coming back!! Felipe is an excellent host! We are all very much looking forward to returning soon 😊

The best sunset in Portugal ☀️

The property is amazing as it is beachfront and also has a pool. Great place to relax. The breakfast on the property has a lot of variety.  The host is excellent and we felt a very warm welcome. We are definitely coming back.

Excelent Location for relaxing and be with friends and family with incomparable view of the sea , great beach and amazing pool.Great for hiking ,or just staying by the pool.
The Staff are fantastic  and make  sure we have everything needed, made us feel in  home away from home.

Part of Portuguese Cultural Heritage

This is the most magical place - the home of the most famous Fado singer ever. The rooms are stunning - you can choose from a beautiful room inside the house, or a self contained charming rural suite just to the side. The house itself is beautiful with many original features from when Amalia stayed there. The pool and view are breathtaking - we swam every day - and evening under the stars. The sunsets are unforgettable. The true heart of the operation is Antonio - the cousin of Amalia who runs the place. He welcomes you as if you are family and by the end of your stay you feel like it. Nothing is too much trouble for him and he will regale you with stories of Amalia's life and achievements. We were only going to stay 2 nights, but quickly added more! I can't recommend this place more highly and will definitely be back. 

A magical place

Just got back from a few days at Herdade Amália Rodrigues and I can definitely recommend to anyone that is in need of a relaxing holiday. The location is breathtaking and Felipe Gomes is the perfect host. 
Rooms are spacious and breakfast is great. 
Definitely going back again!

Amazing !

A couple of weeks before the trip we received an email from the accommodation telling us that we could not be there on the last day, thus forcing ourselves to leave the box the day before we had booked. A posteriori, the booking would explain to us by email that the reason for that cut was overbooking the accommodation, and he offered us to stay that very same last day instead, to stay the six days in another accommodation or cancel the booking without any cancellation costs. We decided to accept those five days in the Herdade Amalia, a professional hotel in the area where the wine is located.

This is heaven on earth. Amazing beach and pool. It is a very secluded and private home. The service and location are amazing, and the Felipe the host Is the best! The breakfast is plentiful with fresh local fruit, jams and eggs from their chickens. We had a private seafood dinner with fresh vegetables from the garden on the property 5⭐️ thank you for the dream vacation, we’ll be back❤️

Private and heavenly sanctuary

Herdade Amalia Rodrigues is literally one of a kind—the only hotel permitted to sit right on the incredible southern Alentejo coast. It was, in fact, the private house of Amalia Rodrigues, a fado singer and possibly Portugal’s most famous celebrity, so it has a much more intimate feel than a typical hotel. The location is stunning, with a gorgeous view of the Amalia Beach and the high, rocky cliffs that surround it. There’s a private path down to the pristine beach from the hotel. Sitting by the large pool, listening to the birds, smelling the sea and watching the waves roll in from the blue, blue Atlantic was a transporting experience. Within a couple of hours of our arrival we felt all our stress fall away and wished we were able to stay for much more than two days.

Antonio, the manager, is a cousin of Amalia. He is truly passionate about keeping her memory alive and is a font of information about fado and his famous cousin. He’s also a charming and considerate host who will make you feel at home immediately. You’ll get a tour of the house and grounds and hear about its history. Breakfast is excellent, with fresh local produce (incredible berries!), cheeses and meats, pastries, Antonio’s pancakes, and eggs produced by the hotel’s own hens. 

To the north, a few minute’s walk from the hotel, is a bluff overlooking the bay. It’s one of the most stunningly beautiful places I’ve ever been. Don’t miss it!

Charming boutique hotel with stunning location and rich legacy

The area is very beautiful. The view of this hotel unit over the sea and the beach of Amália is superb. The recently restored swimming pool with lighting makes the nights even more magical. For those who love Amália it is a unique feeling and they wish it would happen again. The management of this space is the responsibility of Mr. António Filipe Gomes, a competent hotel manager with decades of international experience in Canada.
