Nordseter Fjellpark, Hyttegrend

We booked an apartment (HG09) for four days in early April. I had just skied in the Troll Mountain Marathon and had to run to Nordseter from Sjusjoen after the race. The apartment was small but had everything we needed. It was located just 20 metres from the ski track that leads back to Sjusjoen or on to Nevelfjell, Lillehammer, or Pellestova. This is some of the world's best cross-country skiing with pisting every morning. There is a rather rundown ski waxing hut adjacent to the apartment, but it was very useful. There was a small room with a typical Norwegian bunk bed (double below and single above) and the sofa in the lounge/kitchen could have slept two small youngsters. The shower/toilet was large and clean with a sauna. The apartment soon warmed-up and although we were careful with electric consumption we managed a sauna every day and were never cold during the frosty nights. We consumed around 90NKr worth of electricity- about £9 worth. The staff in the nearby service centre were always helpful and cheerful. There is a small grocers, bakery, café, ski shop and rental. It was a good place to go for a coffee and to use the free (15 minutes) internet. There is a small downhill ski slope in the resort. We were tempted to go for a floodlit ski but in the end, the quality of the cross-country skiing was enough. We opted to do the final clean of the apartment. This was easy using materials left in cupboards. We flew from Edinburgh to Gardermoen and caught the excellent train to Lillehammer. A bus service takes 25 minutes to climb up to Nordseter and stops close to the service centre. We loved staying in Nordseter and look forward to another visit very soon.
