Residence Assaka

With my wife and two friends we arrived to find the self-catering apartment we'd booked not ready, but were given two separate rooms overnight with the promise of the apartment the following day. The rooms were fine, and the apartment was great - 2 bedrooms with twin beds and A/C, one of which had couches to form a sitting room, and each with a terrace. A good sized shower room, and a reasonably equipped dining kitchen with a single burner stove completed the set-up. Comfortable, cleaned daily and our beds made for us! The residence is over a small supermarket (Anaprix) which provided most of our food and drink needs, although we ate out most nights at one or other of the many restaurants nearby. Scampi, and excellent restaurant, is just across the main road, and the Hotel Kamal, a stone's throw away and where we've stayed on previous visits, has a quiet bar for non-residents. Even though our rooms faced a main road and we were over a supermarket noise was not a problem. The residence is well placed for both the town and the beach, although you'll probably need transport if you want to visit the souk. Free car parking was on the quiet side-road outside the residence. The reception is manned 24 hours with very helpful staff who speak French and Arabic - little English. The only minor problem we had was that the shutter in our bedroom was stuck and we had to pile cushions in front to keep out the morning sunlight(!), but we did enjoy our stay there, and would probably stay again if we're in the area.
