My family and I had the opportunity to go to Chetumal for the OCI 2018 so we were looking for an economical hotel with an excellent location and found the hotel palma real which has these characteristics.

Excellent location  Excellent location

The poor service, the neglected rooms, old and in poor condition in all respects, dirty floors, etc., etc. The few plants that lived inside the hotel were dying of thirst, the young receptionist couldn't solve anything.

HOTEL DE MALA CALIDAD is located in the heart of the city.

As an option of passage if you are going to Playa del Carmen, I would return to Hospedarme! Clean, good location, good care and a good price.

De Paso!

This is a very simple hotel with friendly staff that we have come to know through the years. We prefer the rooms in the front with balconies to "people watch" in the evenings. The front rooms are a wee noisy and older. They have newer rooms in the back which are much quieter, but without balconies. They have an upstairs covered interior patio for groups looking for an area to converse together. The location of this hotel is excellent for exploring downtown on foot, just a short distance to the Muelle Fiscal and the esplanade in the evenings and the museum and old market during the day. The have a small onsite covered parking area that holds approximately 6 cars. This hotel is an excellent deal for the location and also the staff is so welcoming. There is a restaurant located directly beside it, but we have never eaten there as we prefer getting food in the evenings in the park.

Our Regular Place To Stay In Chetumal

It's a rather simple hotel, nothing luxurious but very well located on two of the main avenues of the city, and barely 2 blocks from the malecon and the government palace.My stay at this hotel has been very pleasant, and the staff is very friendly.They have a restaurant called Encuentro  where delicious food is served.

Hotel with excellent location.

This hotel is very dirty, the bathroom walls are covered in mold, the lobby is very dusty, the air in the rooms is breathless because of the mold and lack of ventilation.

Avoid it at all costs

As the title says, only the location is worth it and only if you get a room with a balcony, the rest is horrible: dirty rooms, everything old and in bad condition and the price is not worth it, there are better places for a better price.

The only good thing here is the location.

I stayed one night on my way down to belize.  They put me in a room with the window to the street.  The headboards were crusty with dirt and one bed had bloodstains on the sheets.  Out front is a traffic light so you not only hear conversations and traffic outside but when the light turns red you get to listen to the vehicles sit at the light.  Because many trucks pass through on their way to Belize, about every 20 to 30 minutes you get the pleasure of listening to what sounds like a monster truck outside your door.  My chest was seriously vibrating though because of the sounds.  It's what I imagined sleeping on the sidewalk must be like.  It's nights like those where the sleeping pills, blindfold and earplugs really pay off!  Staff was poor to mediocre.  

Dirty and loud

booked a room a couple weeks before my trip so that upon arrival I would not have to worry about any charges whatever, whatever, all I needed is to relieve all the stress on me after long hours of work and also the loss of a relative. I liked the location the place seemed pretty much clean and comfortable but the customer service was terribly awful! they could not find my reservation and did not make any intentions to do so, instead I was charged again, they stated that no charges were not made on the credit card. It all started bad! so I paid again clearly stating it was for two nights ( by the way they do not seem to know any English, which was probably the main reason the communication was poor) and upon leaving after two nights they were charging me for another night, it was ridiculous. I felt angered, I felt disrespected. So after a discussion I came to understand that I was only charged for one night because they did not hear I said I was to stay for 2 nights. I Could have stayed 2 nights more there but because of the service I did all possible to get out of there as soon as possible, they made my getaway trip a nightmare!

Awful expirience

I was not impressed with the cleanliness of this hotel. The sheets were very dirty and  with hairs. I was woken up by loud music from a pre programmed radio or tv at 6:30 am. Windows give to the inside hall so no natural light comes in. Not worth it even at the low rate.
