The place is on the best spot on the island, just a few steps away from the bikini beach, which has the white sand, that you see on every picture of the Maldives. It is peaceful and very comfortable, there are free-to-use sunshades and sunbeds. Unfortunately some of the beds are broken, but there are plenty good ones to use.

We stayed 3 nights at the hotel and we found the staff very helpful and nice. We arrived with the public ferry from Malé (departs from the south-west part at 15:00) and they were waiting for us at the harbour and helped with the luggage. We had half pension anit was a great decision, as both breakfast and dinner were really tasty. You can ask for continental or Maldivian breakfast (we chose the Maldivian - no regrets), and they asked what we liked for dinner so you will not eat anything you wouldn't like.
All in all it is a really good place to stay if you want to enjoy the real Maldivian feeling.

We stayed 6 nights at this hotel and enjoyed every moment of our stay. The hotel staff was very friendly and accommodating from the moment we arrived on Gulhi (they come to meet you at the ferry to carry your luggage and guide you to the hotel). The staff arrange activities such as bbq nights, a performance of local musicians and dancers, snorkelling trips, dolphin watching etc. You don't even need to go on a dolphin watching trip to see them though, we were on a kayak next to the beach and saw the dolphins there.

The hotel has 4 rooms, so it's never too loud or busy. The rooms are spacious and clean, with air conditioning, a small fridge and a TV. The shower was good, never any problems with warm water. 

The breakfast (especially the Maldivian option) was very tasty, and came with coffee, juice and fruit. And if it wasn't too windy outside, then you can have the breakfast 10m from the sea, under the shade of trees, with a magical view. The location is the best on the island, because it is next to the bikini beach and an open space with palm trees where you can hide when it gets too hot at the beach. And the beach itself is stunning and mostly a quiet paradise (sometimes a bigger group of tourists arrives from Maafushi for a day trip - which is when it can get a bit louder).

For us the one of the best things about Gulhi was that you only see a max of 20 tourists around, so it is not crowded and it doesn't feel commercial. Most people you see around are locals, you have dinner in local places and you can see how real people in the Maldives live.

Amaizing stuff, place, island. It was our end of our Maledives trip. We were on 3 islands and stay at 3 hotels and this was a TOP. Stuff make all our wishes. Breakfests and coffe serve directly on a beach. The manager has his eyes open and constantly works to improve the hotel, service and surroundings.

This place is typical of most accommodation on the local islands. Comfortable and clean. It is by far the closest accommodation to the beautiful bikini beach. The owners are trying hard to provide a good service. We were able to get a range of English speaking TV stations which we enjoyed at night. eg BBC, Al Jazeera. Breakfast was lovely sitting almost on the beach overlooking the ocean.

Starting a great hotel

The hotel is well located, just a stone throw away from the bikini beach. You will be provided with a beach towel every second day of your stay. 

The hotel is still new, so the sheets are still mostly spotless and towels clean. Also hairdryer, hotwater heater and cable tv is offered. Two rooms have a window towards the ocean, other two smaller rooms don't have windows. (Though locals will be walking just outside your window looking in, so they aren't always so relevant. Then again you can see and hear the ocean from the bigger window rooms.) The room behind the front desk is the best quality.

The furniture is modern, warm water is in the showers. The staff did offer me to unexpectedly join some activities for free, which really added value to my stay. Also during my stay they upgraded their unstable internet to a good working one and did fix the tv channels without a delay.

But as I write this review, I do so with contraditive feelings. The service quality and friendliness of the staff seemed to change from moment to moment, depending on their mood. It honestly changed like the wind daily and sometimes hourly. Which made me many times uncomfortable and overshadowed the tranquility of my stay. 

One minute they were super nice and wanted to offer me a possibility to join them for activities for free and talking to me about anything, while the next moment I felt so frustrated when the manager managed to develop a few minor problems into the biggest fight or argument of the year, that usually still remained unsolved after the encounter.

 I don't think the customer should need to fight for getting the bill corrected to what it is stated on the booking confirmation, nor to pay the bill by card as earlier confirmed via email prior to arrival. I also don't think it should be the guests responsibility to get the room cleaned (which in fact should include the bathroom), towels changed or get a prior service corrected. 

Also the breakfast quality changed daily depending on who was serving it. One day it included fruit and bottles of water, the next day it didn't. Mostly everything was corrected in the end, but it required often a bit too much energy from my part. 

In addition I'd like to mention that, I wanted to change my booking in a way the hotel would have gotten more money from me, than the cancellation fee was in the booking, but they told me it was not possible even dispite this. So even if I did like the island and had good experience, I felt forced to be there cus there was no room for discussion. So don't book longer times unless you're sure you want to stay.

 If the service quality and friendliness of this hotel was stabilized I would highly recommend this place. I also wish despite it being a Muslim country, there to be some rule against noise making between let's say 10 pm- at least 7 am, as the rooms are not soundproofed at all and u might get a really early wakeup or not so silent night :-D
