Amazing place.  So close to Newgrange you could walk if you wanted to!  The owner is incredibly kind.  We were in a bit of a jam and the owner went above and beyond the call to help us out!  The apartments are awesome. All the comforts of home (full kitchen, etc).  Beautiful marble floors. Absolutely stunning.  Brilliant value for the money. You get your own hang out area in the back. Also it has a beautiful courtyard.

Nice accommodation (needs a better sofa!!!) but lacking for nothing otherwise...Close to newgrange & battle of boyne ...the boyne valley drive is a good one to do...lots to see & do

Lovely property and area right beside the Boyne and only a short drive to shops. Very cosy stay with a great response from owner! Would recommend.

The one bed apartment is excellent. The kitchen area is perfect for cooking etc. Large sitting room with all utilities. Parking is secure and private. I'm a light sleeper and found the walls transparent to noise had people up till 2-3 in the morning while on a working trip.The apartment is excellent and well worth a visit and a must to stay. Cant say enough about the set up.Excellent

Worth a Visit

There was nothing about the property we did not like. The property is of  a very high standard and clean throughout. It is in a nice quiet location, but very accessible to M1.

Gorgeous set of cottages, in a quietl, peaceful location. Local taxis are really good, but I would recommend having a car to get around. We will definitely return

Loved these cottages very peaceful and relaxing stay. Great location in the countryside but still close enough to amenities and places of interest.

Very high standard spec inside accommodation was very impressed. Wifi worked great had no issues which is a big plus. Lovely seated area to the rear we used ALOT!! 

Overall great place to stay would recommend it very friendly staff to deal with.

Great place

We booked two one bedroom cottages for three nights. The location was easy to find, and Ann was a lovely hostess. The cottages were spotless! The views were lovely, and it's so quiet and peaceful. We spent our first four nights at a hotel, so it was so nice to be able to cook simple evening meals and not have to find a pub for dinner every night. There's a good Tesco Extra in Dunore that had everything we needed, including a pharmacy for when one of our party got sick. The train station in Drogheda was close and easy to find, and taking the train to Dublin was much easier than driving in. The Battle of the Boyne site was very close by, as well, and made for a good rainy afternoon excursion. My only negative about the Sheephouse was that we had plenty of towels but weren't given any washcloths. I'm sure Ann would have been happy to give us some, though, if we'd asked. Oh, and the wifi connection was excellent! Every cottage has its own secure connection.

Relaxing

Stayed here several years ago.  The cottages are gorgeous and as I was travelling with the children on my own I had the added reassurance of locked gates at night.  Close to lots of tourist attractions but set in an idyllic countryside so provides the quietness to relax.   I would definitely recommend Sheephouse cottages.

Family break

The attitude of the owner. Despite having made a booking for the 4 bedroom house plus one 2 bedroom cottage and a one bedroom cottage, she overbooked to accommodate her ''regular'' patrons''. My sister had separately booked a one bedroom cottage also....which she again double booked. This would not have been such a major issue except we was only told when contacting her ourselves to ask about various facilities within the premises such as hair dryers etc. We had emailed her several times but received no replies so had to phone. Her response was ...oh I was about to call you. She blamed someone else for the overbooking however from what we could see she is in sole charge of the place. 
Anyway she said she would give us alternative facilities for the 2 one bedroom cottages within the main house ...2 double bedrooms. On arrival she showed us the alternative facilities but stated that it was only to replace the ones double booked. She made a point of telling us that ''she was doing us a favour'' by giving us the replacements as the house on its own would cost considerably more ...her words were ...I should be charging more'' as the replacements were more luxurious.
I decided not to challenge her on this but felt uneasy that her mistake was what led us to this situation and it was unnecessary for her to say this. She also said she didn't want more than 4 people staying in the replacement, Again unnecessary as we had got the other rooms.

We stayed 3 nights.

The day of leaving and we had to settle our security deposit of 500 Euro. She inspected all the rooms booked and was satisfied that there was no damage. On inspecting the large house where we had been given the replacement rooms she noticed that the we had cooked breakfast there so we could leave expediently. There was one person eating there when she came round.

We went to her office to secure our refund and she said she had to charge us 120 Euro to clean that replacement property...even though we had emptied all the rubbish bins and vacuumed the place. It may have needed a cursory clean to prepare for future guests but nothing more. We weren't prepared to accept that. I challenged her and said from day 1 you have made us feel as if you are doing us a favour by giving us the  replacement rooms  when the overbooking was a mistake of your own making. Her reply was that if that was the case we should have not stayed. Given that we were there for my nephews wedding I asked should we have pitched a tent somewhere? She stated that was for me to decide. I asked why when the place was quite clean that she was charging us the extra 120 Euro. She said because there were ''smells'' that she would have to get rid of and that meant extra work and candles etc. to solve. We are a Sikh Indian family and that comment left me fuming. What was the implication of that comment? Readers can draw their own conclusion but our breakfast consisted of eggs, bacon, sausages, toast and beans. So her comment was offensive.
I suggested that if she wished to charge us the extra 120 Euro then i would bring the black bin bags back inside. I left her office because I did not want the situation to escalate. I did NOT carry out my threat to bring the rubbish back in. 
She told my sister wait a few minutes ...he(myself) will not know what's hit him. She also stated that we were not allowed to go to each others cottage and sit on the chairs.

Within the next few minutes 2 vehicles arrived ... an ex army fellow in one and I assume her husband and her son in the other. Her ''enforcers'' I assume. By the time they had arrived my sister reluctantly agreed the a charge of 100 Euro extra and deducted that off our deposit. 

I was not happy but I was persuaded that we should cut our losses and head for the airport to come back to England.

The whole episode left a bad taste in the mouth and tainted what should have been a joyous occasion. 

If anyone wishes to book this place for families I suggest you make double sure your booking is safe and that you fit the criteria the owner seems to require of her patrons. Quite the opposite of what I thought the hospitality business was about.
