City Gate Hotel Airport Thessaloniki

I'll start by saying that I recommend this hotel. The staff are friendly. The room was clean. Breakfast had great options. And the area is very quiet. My stay was very pleasant.For prospective travelers:This hotel is located just far enough from the airport that you will likely need to get a taxi or call the hotel to pick you up. Keep in mind that you have to let the hotel know ahead of time about your arrival. I called just after I landed, and the hotel said that they couldn't pick me up and that I needed to let them know ahead of time. So, while they do offer a free shuttle to the airport, there is a caveat about communication. Other hotels seem to have a different policy and will pick you up from the airport without advance notice. That said, I let them know about my departing flight the night before I left, and they had a shuttle ready in the morning. Another thing to keep in mind is that this hotel is not close to the city. You will likely need to get a cab to the center of the city. In January 2025 on a Saturday morning the cab cost about 20 Euro. When returning back to the hotel, the cab cost 16.5 Euro. The staff are happy to order a cab for you, so feel free to ask them about it.I highly recommend bringing your own water and some food. As far as I could tell, the hotel is not within walking distance to any markets or restaurants.With all this taken into consideration, the hotel itself deserves 5 stars. It was a pleasant stay.
