The service is of poor quality, the rooms with construction problems, breakfast and dinner of very poor quality, I do not recommend that you visit that place, if you go to Topes de Collantes visit the Hotel Los Helechos.

 Villa Caburni

I wasn’t expecting much from this mountain top lodging; after all the website does admit it was built in the 50s. But 60 years of being run down and operated by government folk who have no concept of service, make it a destination only for the bold traveler with extremely low standards. Let’s just say cleanliness and maintenance have yet to be discovered. Our cabin was falling apart and the only things saving Caburni from a 1 Star review were a delightful server called Maria and our realization that there’s simply no budget in Cuba for government operations. We were staying in Toco only for the scenery and hiking. Ask for Yasiel as your tour guide; he’s super knowledgeable, interesting and considerate and turned our experience from negative to enjoyable.

Borderline dire

There are many houses under repair, the care of the staff is very good and the food, although not very varied if it is well prepared. it is surrounded by abundant vegetation and at the entrance of the trail to the Caburni. Very close to the canopy, the Kurhotel and a little further away from the rest of the Topes complex.

 Good rest.

The area and its beautiful forests are going great but the room service and customer service are terrible, but very bad even with preferences in the customers at breakfast, lunch and dinner.

The worst service ever.

We stayed 10 days and were able to enjoy a wonderful environment, spacious houses although in need of maintenance, very professional care and the food although not varied by excellent elaboration.

Excellent surroundings are provided.

Last August I stayed at Villa Caburní for two nights with my family and friends and would no doubt repeat my visit there as it is a pleasant place, ideal for those who like a cool climate, need peace and relaxation. It is located very close to the Kurhotel Escambray and the cabins have good conditions: hot water in the bathroom, two bedrooms with air conditioning, minibar, cable TV and living room. The workers of the villa were very attentive and always ready to help, from the cameras to the staff of the restaurant. Topes offers the visitor an enviable nature, a great diversity of flora and fauna, you can enjoy swimming pool, juices and wifi service. They offer excursions to the different rooms through which you can discover the beautiful natural attractions of the Cuban art museum and other clockwise attractions of the city.

A pleasant stay.

Newly refunished family bungalow was not satisfactory due to the small and uncomfortable double-bed (140x190 cm) with un-even legs. Good, clean bathrooms with shower (heated during the day by solar water heater) and A/C in all rooms. The mattresses were uncomfortable and the bed wobbly. The kitchen was without any tools or equipment for cooking or even making teas/coffees. Small mini-bar fridges in bedrooms for cooling self-obtained water or refreshments. No shopping available on premises, except water/drinks. Hotel restaurant was on a pre-made menu of either meat or fish. No vegetarian options.Service was basic, and complaints were taken personally, and nothing was improved during the stay. The safe did not work.

Beautiful and spacious family forest bungalow in the hills

The tour included a stop on the guided tour we had chosen in Topes de Collantes. A meal break with no other interest than to restore ourselves. Quantities as always huge.

Nothing out of the ordinary

You need a car or you will have to walk a lot. It is close to Caburni which is beautiful waterfall. The food at the restaurant wasnt very good but the place is quite. The better restaurant Los Helechos is a long walk but better food. Better to have a car. At the information center for $10 cuc per person including transportation and lunch at the restaurant we booked trips to Guanayara, El Cubano. Wish we had book El Nicho in advance and Cayo Las iguanas. The air is pure and weather very nice.

Not bad for the price

An excellent place for those who enjoy nature tourism, cool climate, beautiful protected plants and animals as the whole place is a protected area for its rare and endemic species, very quiet, beautiful to relax and get out of stress.
