Beihai Weizhou Island Piggybar Hostel

Arrival to the Weizhou island was a little bit tricky. Everyone has to pay 90 CNY for entering it. Not that the boat ticket (min. 120 CNY one way) wouldn't be enough already. Hostel provides transfer from harbour, but the driver doesn't speak any English, so we had to find some other transport. Tuk-tuk charges from 15-30 CNY. I got it for 20 CNY after some negotiation. Hostel staff is really nice and friendly, they manage with some English. A good help is from "Mario's bar" nextdoor. The bar keeper is really nice German guy. He and his Chinese wife helped us a lot with communication. They also recommended some good places to visit on the island. In the bar you can get good Western style food (if you get tired of all the Chinese food). We rented bikes (40 CNY/day) and drove around nice places and beaches. Within 1 day you will see almost everything. Went even diving, but the weather was cloudy that time, so the experience wasn't so amasing. Still a good way to spend time on the island :) Another good tip is that small bananas are just 1 CNY/bunch. Again you have to bargain as the starting price can be higher.
