Sporthotel Ellmau

Sporthotel Ellmau. We stayed here with family in August 2023 and we also stayed here in the summer of the previous year. We were very impressed with the hotel, the staff, our room and the excellent food. The Sport is a very large hotel, is situated near to the centre of Ellmau village and the Astberg chairlift is nearby. Ellmau has plenty of facilities such as cycle hire, gift shops and supermarket with plenty of beautiful walks and hiking routes. The Sport Hotel is a very beautiful building built in traditional Tyrolean style. The staff are very helpful, friendly and polite. Despite its large size it’s warm and welcoming. There are plenty of facilities in the hotel. The weather in early August 2023 was not so good but there was a large lounge area with plenty of comfortable seats. There are excellent spa facilities and a gym. There is also an indoor and outdoor pool which is beautiful in its design and a third indoor pool which is for adults only within the main spa area. On the lower level, a jacuzzi and numerous steam rooms and saunas of various temperatures, ideal after a long day walking or skiing if you visit in winter. The beautiful restaurant and food. This is another fantastic feature of the hotel. The restaurant is divided into separate intimate eating areas with different themes. Modern theme, classical theme or Tyrollean theme. We eat in the in the traditional Tyrollean style Baeurnhof stüble. The food is excellent, of high quality and a lot of attention made of its delightful presentation. There are fully cooked breakfasts with eggs, scrambled, fried or boiled. Very nice bacon, sausages and various hams, cereals, fruits and many more foods. A news letter is provided on your table each morning with suggestions of daily activities in and around Ellmau. Evening meal main course is chosen at breakfast time and there are 4 main options including a vegetarian option a fish option and two choices of soup. There are 5 courses. An appetiser, a soup and then salad from buffet. Main course and then a choice of desserts the from buffet. A delicious children’s menu is also provided for younger guests. During the week there are several themed evenings such as pasta buffet night which has a range of very tasty good quality pasta dishes. Also an antipasti evening and an excellent Friday Tyrolean farmers buffet with beautiful cuts of meats, vegetables and other delightful local cuisine. Drinks are served to your table and can either be paid for at the end of the meal, at reception or at the end of your stay. There is an excellent choice of wines to suit your meal. Beers and soft drinks are also available. My room was excellent and very clean with a proper bath and shower. The rooms include a free safe for valuables and comfortable furnishings. My room was in a beautiful traditional Tyrolean style. Lots of nice touches too such as the duvet folded. To conclude, our stay at Sporthotel Ellmau was excellent in all aspects from start to finish. I highly recommend visiting the Sporthotel Ellmau and very much look forward to returning to this hotel soon!
