We had booked this place just bcos our 6am Kangaroo Island pickup was just 200 mts away and although it mentions as bagpackers, but also advertises as motel.
But I wish I had read some of the reviews, everything about this place is BAD. Even if the accomodation was far from my pickup point, at least stay would have been good!
1. The reception is only open for 5 hours daily and no support afterwards (they dont mention this when booking and you see it only when arrive there).
2. The place overall is filthy as said by other reviewers. They will not change towels or bedsheet for your entire stay. Overall the building is old and rooms needs mojor renovation.
3. The service is pathetic. There is an emergency mobile number but no one responds to that. There is not even soap in the toilet!
4. Our room heat pump wasn't heating and when I called reception in the morning, the manager or owner said he will look into it. But when we returned in the evening it wasn't heating and reception was already closed by then.
5. There is a nightclub next to this building and they play club music till 4am on weekend, so you cant even sleep in peace and no escape as the club is right next door!
By now 2 days of our 3 day stay was over, we realised that the management is highly dishonest. But while you are on a trip, you dont want to waste time fighting with motel management. So we were just relieved after our 3 days stay.
Will not recommend to anyone visiting Adelaide!!

Terrible experience, dishonest management

I booked this sight-unseen when I couldn't get into the (spacious, comfortable) official YHA.  The dorm was crammed with 6 bunk beds - there was barely room to put your bag down.  The kitchen was also too small, badly understocked with plates and cutlery but overstocked with insects.  There were not enough bathrooms for the number of people they had staying there.  There were holes in the walls that needed filling - the place just hasn't been maintained properly, (or cleaned as far as I could tell).   I accept that it's a cheap backpackers and you get what you pay for, but I have stayed in much better places for the same price.

Cramped, sub-standard

Staying in this hostel felt like featuring in a horror movie. To start with, the receptionist made it very unclear of how to get into the hostel when we arrived late at night and there were no night staff or phone number to call. The building constantly had the worst smell and looks to never have been cleaned before. There were hairs, filth and someone’s dirty clothes and towels in the bathroom that had remained there for the entire of our stay. We actually saw the ‘cleaner’ wiping the bathroom with toilet roll. In the whole hostel there were only 2 toilets/showers (unisex). After travelling for over a year, this is the worst hostel I have stayed in and I would have left if all the other hostels weren’t fully booked. DO NOT VISIT! 

Horror movie hell

The lovely lady at reception  was extremely  helpful and we are very greatful for the service  she gave us. She went out of her way to look up public transport  time tables for us and even helped us with trying to cancel tours we were not able to do anymore. Very spacious rooms and fresh clean linen. only problem with the room that could make it a bit more cozy would be a small couch or something comfortable to rest and watch the tv on as you do not always want to be in bed to relax.
The outdoor area was a lovely area to eat dinner and mingle with other guests with the kitchen on the small side it really was nice to have somewhere  to go eat and get out of the way of those cooking. We stayed here last year also and the improvements that have occurred are great. When we come back next time I am sure it will be even better.

Great place to stay

Overall disappointed in the cleanliness of the private room with ensuite. When pointed out to staff the offending area to staff was cleaned in part, but the remainder of the room remained dusty and my 'fresh' towel had a nasty stain.

It's a short walk from the popular Rundle Mall, but through a nightlife area. There was some noise on the Saturday night, not enough to keep me awake but others may require earplugs. That said, it was quiet on the Sunday so maybe it depends on the nearby events happening.

There is decent Wi-Fi, but the frequent absence of reception staff and woeful cleaning lets this accommodation down in my opinion.

Very basic accommodation

Booked that place according to good ratings on another website. Once I got there, I realized they actually have 2 separate areas: one backpacker's style with dorm rooms and shared mixed bathrooms; one motel style with private double ensuite rooms.
Then I figured that those good rates were most certainly given according to the motel style part. Because, being in one of the dorm rooms, I got to say that the room is alright, but what bothered me is the state of the bathrooms. Plus, there are only 3 bathrooms for 4 dorm rooms. At some point, they forgot to restock the toilets with toilet paper... 
Please, pay a bit more attention to cleanliness in the bathrooms.

Needs cleanliness

Stayed here two weeks with a week’s gap in the middle. For the week we weren’t here the staff kept our bags in storage. We were also able to check in straight away both times (once very late and once very early). Staff couldn’t be more accommodating.

Room itself was very spacious with kitchenette, table, tv, ensuite bathroom and excellent WiFi. Location may not be for everyone but for us personally it was great because it was close to the river/stadium/convention areas and also the beach tram.

Only negative was that on in each my stays I got glass in my foot and some places in the room were a little bit dirty. We did actually tell the staff when we left because we didn’t want them to go on unaware and they seemed to take it on board.

Overall this place is great value for money and probably one of the best hostels we’ve stay S in life n Australia.

Very good value.

Stayed there a few times. Very good accomodation. At first the Greek people running the joint were friendly. Tried to rebook online at a later stage but they refused to accept me again. Maybe because I only gave them a review rating of around 7.8 previously. Weirdos. 

Weird. 

We booked the double room with own bathroom. Very clean room. New towels every day! Clean kitchen , washing machine, TV and own fridge in our room. Friendly staff and good location. ( Just 8 min Walk to shopping street) 

Clean , friendly and comfortable 

This hostel has just been taken over by two new people who are very friendly, available and hospitable. The rooms are spacious, brief but clean. Double room and private SDB in our case. Close to the center. Free WiFi. Very democratic price +/- 50 AUD/night. Attention, kitchen in the room: dishwasher, microwave, refrigerator, sink but no kitchenette alone bemool. I don't know if there is a common kitchen that we don't get introduced to. These people are willing to do it well!
