Terrible place. It's falling apart. The beds are rock hard. Sheets that didn't fit the beds. The curtain rod was held up with painters tape. The toilet seat was loose. The bathroom paper holder was falling off the wall. No fan in the bathroom, so paint is coming off. You can't open the windows. Scuff marks everywhere. Tv was impossible to turn on and off. Hairdryer didn't work. Mosquitoes in the room. The outside is falling apart. A trash lid was in the grand for 3 days. I could go on and on...

Do not stay here

I booked a kitchenette/patio and was very, very disappointed.  First, when I arrived at 5 pm the room had not yet been cleaned, and I was asked to wait a half hour.  I entered the room later and found it clean and newly renovated, including the bathroom.  However, the 3 season room and patio had no furniture, making those spaces useless.  And this room did not have a window (because of the door to the patio), therefore I was staying in a windowless room with no circulation and an air conditioner that was so loud that is was unusable when I was in the room.  (AC remote didn't work anyway, and I couldn't reach the controls without standing on the bed.)  The water pressure is intermittent to nonexistent (I was told this was a city problem), and it always seemed to be trickling during my shower.  Long-haired folks will have great difficulty rinsing out the shampoo.  Speaking of shampoo, the dispensers in the shower (a plus!) were unlabeled, so you have to guess as to what is in there.  Guests were smoking in the hall, which infiltrated the room.  It was difficult to sleep--besides the cigarette smoke and the lack of AC (or an AC that sounded like a jet engine), there was a lot of light leak around the door. I did not feel safe: the dead bolt mechanism was flimsy.    I would never return here, but if you want to book a room, definitely opt for the room without a patio instead of wasting my money on the upgrade.

This was below expectations in almost every way, but it was very clean and did have a beautiful new bathroom. This was an upgraded family suite with a patio, but the patio was a screened in porch looking over a parking lot and some condo apartments. A huge denigrating political sign greeted us as we entered the parking lot, not part of the hotel but impossible to miss. This unit came with a kitchen which looked nice on first impression but was in pretty sad shape, and the promised kitchen supplies were scarce with broken pieces. It had a very nice tile floor which I do prefer over carpet. So, basically this was a run down hotel with some nice renovations that have not been maintained.

Not what we expected at all.

This motel is in the process of being renovated.  Since our room was one of them that was done, they deserve a good rating.  The location was nice, our room included a kitchenette (unneeded for us) & a wasted outdoor space but for some it might be important.

Not your average hotel. We stopped here while driving across FL. They had one room left. The room was clean and comfortable. The AC seems to reset back to 80 in the middle of the night. Folks that run this and 3 other hotels were very helpful with where to go and eat. If you want an out of the way, a little bit different hotel. This is it. Bring bug spray. Sitting out talking with the other guests you will need it.

A little out of the way

The good: The people in charge of checking us in and out were very friendly. The bed was comfy.
The bad: This hotel is subpar for what you pay. Check in is in a completely different building down the street. The bathroom is covered in bugs come nighttime. The AC struggled to keep the room cool. The duvet had a blood stain on it. Someone tried coming into our room to clean before check out. For what I paid for this room, I’m not happy. 

Find somewhere else to stay

We wanted to stay in Everglades City for 2 nights to go on airboat tours and explore the local area. We chose the Captain’s Table as it was the only hotel I found with a family room. We had a large open plan room with 2 X double beds and a pull out couch, which I told the hotel we would definitely be using with 2 teenage children. We checked in as instructed at a hotel down the road and I was given bedding to take for the futon ( I would have expected that to be made up already, as I had left a message in the booking - but it only took us 2 minutes) Our room was clean and cool, with a lovely clean kitchen area, which looked brand new. The bathroom was also clean with shower gel provided and clean, fluffy towels. It is not the most modern looking motel but had a great traditional atmosphere and was very quiet at night. The swimming pool was great and we had it all to ourselves, both morning and evening; it was clean, looked well maintained with a lovely view. 

Everglades stopover on family road trip

Had a nice stay while visiting the west side of Everglades National Park. Price was good, especially given the limited options in Everglades City. The pool, which overlooked the water, was great (seemed to be one of the only hotels in Everglades City that had a pool). Internet was blazing fast, like fasted I've ever seen in a hotel. The room I had was a great size, and the pizza place next door to the hotel was great. A few drawbacks though: there seemed to be some construction debris laying around the property. One of the beds in the room sagged to the point of reaching the floor. And I wished the room had a desk or table of some sorts, although its a vacation destination so I understand that a lot of the guests won't be spending time on a computer. Overall I'm happy with my stay.

Happy with my stay

The owner of the Ivey House Adventures Hotel has purchased all the existing hotels in Everglades City including the Captain's Table, which is a lovely old hotel situated in a "garden like" environment. I was happy with my comfortable accommodations and the nicely equipped  kitchenette. It is a relaxing environment to return to after a day out. The very big drawback to this hotel has to do with the considerable lack of interest and attention the new owner of one year, gives to the Captain's Table. There is NO reception or check in option at the hotel. People make reservations online for the Captain's Table, but when they arrive the place is devoid of activity and they do not know where to go. They have to drive a 1/2 mile to the Ivey House to check in and then return to the Captain's Table. There is NO ice machine or other small amenities. The exterior is in need of upkeep and paint, the outside steps need stripping on the treads for safety and the exterior lighting needs an upgrade to fix the exposed live wires. There is some small, very slow effort to remodel rooms, but there is always debris to walk around. I have stayed at this hotel multiple times over the past 10 years, but as it stands now, it is a very uninviting experience. The new owner appears to be more interested in the outrageous $200-250/night he receives at his newly expensively renovated Ivey House establishment than at the other properties he has acquired. It is shameful, but 
I will continue to revisit this hotel.



Captain's Table Hotel decline

As after Hurricane Ian our preferred hotel (Everglades City Motel) was damaged and closed, we stayed here overnight. We usually spend a night in Everglades City as a midway-point between two destinations (Gulf Coast and Florida Keys), and the hotel served excellent for this. The room is big with a good kitchen and excellent matrasses. The screened porch would be nice to enjoy the evenings without the no-seeums, however ours was poorly furnished, but still usable with light and a van. This could be the reason for us to stay there in the future. The village would not be a holiday destination per se, but it's a good experience to be out in the nature for a day and for us it serves it's purpose. 
It looks like most of the rooms and efficiencies are now permanently rented by local families with dogs. Just a few hotel rooms remaining at this property which is managed together with Ivy's (where you have to check-in) and Everglades City Motel.
