The hotel changed there name from Motel 6 to Evanston Inn it is under new management and they are remodeling each room and really cleaning up the place. I give them a five star because they have very clean rooms and very nice people. I will return!!

LOCATION! LOCATION! LOCATION!

I love Motel 6 in Evanston, easily accessible via the I-80 with the best floor level rooms ever! Unlike the other Motel 6s', I love this particular one as it was different given that the rooms were daily upkeeped with clean towels and ample toiletries, not mentioning a good sized microwave and fridge. I love the closed down curtains and the fabulous, large flat screen television with complimentary movies to watch after midnight over pizza, and tucked snugly over warm bed sheets and linens. And not mentioning a complimentary Wi-fi to keep in touch with my family and friends on Facebook. Thank you so much, Motel 6. You make all the difference!

Great Value, Excellent Location!

Fabulous location right next to the I-80! I love the convenient parking right next to the rooms which makes coming in and out such a breeze. This hidden gem is a great value for money as it is the only one with the largest flat screen television as well as a good sized microwave oven which helps makes my vacation complete. Not mentioning the top notch housekeeping staff who comes by daily to clean and make up the rooms which is great for children as well as seniors. I am impressed that Spanish is the main language spoken here with the most professional front desk staff available for questions 24/7. I was apprehensive about deciding to make Motel 6 Evanston my home away from home until seeing so many of my own people coming here for a holiday (imagine all the way from California!) No wonder so many Hollywood movie stars have made this state their first home and not just Kenya West. I love to eat at a Mexican eatery nearby which offers plenty of choices to choose from so that you will never run out of Salsa for the entire family and friends to enjoy over a midnight Hollywood movie on television. Seeing is believing!

I made the reservation through hotels.com for one night 8/22-23/2020
 

Front desk assigned room 225 to me. After getting to the room, I found it’s on the side facing a busy and noisy highway and the noise level in the room was too much for me to sleep. I went back to front desk hoping to switch to a different room that faces a different direction. Front desk girl was talking to a group of guests in the lobby away from her desk. A south Asian looking guy came out of the back room, using very bad English asking me what I wanted. I said I want to switch to a quieter room. He murmured something that I totally don’t understand.

 

At that point, front desk girl came back. Guy told her to give me a refund blah blah (I don’t understand what he was saying). I heard the word dirty mentioned a few times, so I said, I only entered the room 10 seconds, heard the noise then came out, I didn’t dirty the room. Somehow he grew hostile, asked the girl, where he made the booking, Refund and let him out of here... that’s what I deciphered since his English was really bad. I said, I only wanted a different room. Girl said, no room available. I almost begged the girl, looking at the half empty parking lot, please check again, please, then she found a room, 110. We went in to the new room, cleaned up and I started sound asleep-was really tired after a long day.

 

At 10:30ish the room phone rang. I picked it up after a while. Guy in broken English asked me to come to front desk-I asked, what? Why? He repeated a few times, I heard the word Expedia (I guess they own Hotels.com) and refund. Then he hang up and I heard knock on the door. I put on my shorts didn’t have time to put on a shirt, followed him to the front desk. Oh he never wore a mask. I did wear one when checking in but not at 10:30pm. So we got to front area. A different lady was there. He, now I assume is the owner, kept yelling something, I think I heard Expedia called his hotel asking to give me a full refund. I said why, who called you and when? I never contacted them asking for refund. So I turned to the lady asking for what’s going on. She said she didn’t get any cal from Expedia about refund. The man kept on. I said whatever was going on, which I was totally unaware and unsure what happened until today, why do you have to wake me up and why can’t we wait till tomorrow? He then mentioned someone’s name that called from Expedia. Maybe the first girl who checked me in did something that Hotels.com doesn’t like? Regardless I was totally infuriated at the middle of the night, bare chested in a lobby not wearing a mask. I said I’m going back to sleep and don’t knock don’t call otherwise I will call police. He said, I own the place, I have the right to open every door, pointing to his master keys... all his conversations took him 3-4 times to get half through to me and my friend. He said something about it’s his business and no one complains it’s dirty. At that point, I realized maybe he misunderstood my noise complaint to be about room being dirty? I said if you want to run a business in America, you need to learn English; I’m an immigrant myself but I learned.

 

We went back to the room fuming with anger and frustration. I didn’t fall back into sleep the entire night. I don’t want to ruin his business or anything. I believe the whole thing was a total misunderstanding on his part. But this is the first time ever in any hotel around the world that I’ve ever stayed in that through no fault of my own that I was dragged out of bed in the middle of the night so it’s really a nightmare. Since I came back from my camping trip, I have been trying to get in touch with Hotels.com to get a refund, yes, I demand a refund since my night was ruined so did my next days travel plan, but couldn’t get a hold of anyone via email and I didn’t want to stay on the phone line waiting so I’m posting on google. I would like to know what exactly happened either through Hotels.com or motel 6

 

On 9/4/2020, I called hotels.com asking for what happened, they said there is no record they called motel 6 Evanston regarding my stay on 8/22.

Owner dragged me off bed at 10:30pm while i was sleeping!

Poorly up kept, dirty, smells not appropriate if you have children. The room we got with our toddler was literally right next to a smoking room where they left the door open every time they wanted to smoke. The people upstairs sounded like they must have been wearing clogs and having a party until 3 am when we got up to leave. When the neighbor turned on their shower, it shook the walls, was so loud that you couldn’t even yell and be heard by the person in the next bed. Then it started making this god awful whistling which almost forced us to leave before going to bed. The room doors are gross and look like people smeared poop all over them. The sheets had stains, the floor was very dirty and not even swept let alone mopped any time recently. The furniture was falling apart and had wholes drilled in to them. The piece that holds the handheld shower head was so warn, if you looked at it wrong it would send it flying to the floor and the water all over. The room itself was non smoking but you could have fooled us. It smelt like the people the night before hot boxed the room. The mini fridge was falling apart and they removed the temperature knobs so you basically had a fridge just cooler than the outside. This has to be the most disgusting motel 6 I’ve seen since the brand remodeling started a couple years ago.

Motel 6 should be ashamed and so should this locations owner. I wish this review was a joke.

The staff was very friendly and nice. Always made sure that everything was to our liking and asked if we need anything. 
Room was great, very clean and everything was provided.
We definitely recommend this location!

Vacation

I love this hidden gem in Evanston! 

Great for business as well as pleasure. Rooms are spacious  with clean bathrooms as well as king sized beds. And most of all, I love the diversity in the multi-lingual staff who speaks Spanish as well as off the beaten path, Mexican eateries nearby! 

You get your money's worth as the room comes with the biggest flat screen television with pulled down shades. Unlike most other Motel 6s', this unique and different one comes with complimentary channels, as well as a fridge and a microwave oven.

The beautiful town has many things to offer like horseback riding, bicycling as well gorgeous trails to explore along the Bear River Park.

Wi-fi is fabulous so I can keep me in close contact with my friends and family.

Great Value For Money!

This motel is run by some peculiar migrant looking employees who makes you pay to wait on them for an easy hand out. 

Despite being a long term guest, the one exceptional beauty in eye glasses standing in front loves to sweep the lobby around noon but does nothing to help except in micro-managing you as her first day employee. 

A good place nonetheless to come and find out about the type of clientele living in the vicinity (if you are on a casual drive through the neighborhood!) That is if you do not mind standing out in the wintry storm should you find your key card blocked somewhere in the middle of your stay!

Low Rated Joint!

Not worth the value for money! This motel caters only towards truckers who comes by the I-80  who stays for a night while their truck is being serviced at the side station. They do not want to see ordinary people coming in to stay long term! I am a returned customer and I paid for a long term stay to have the front desk lock me out after confirming to me that they have already extended the check out date. Housekeeping staff comes into your room to move your things out of their way and do not put them back. Toilet paper as well as towels are seldom changed as much as the bed sheet. The best part of it is that you get to smell a week's old dirty water from the bucket which is used to mop all rooms. The one most promising young lady standing at the counter stared and snubbed at me as if I had no right to bother her while she was busy sweeping and then goes on to reprimand me for throwing dirty towels into a trolley of fresh linen. She then changes her story line to her Manager by stating that she mistook me for one of the housekeeping staff who is starting her first day of work at the Motel. Looks to me the local newspaper does a good job in covering up!

Truckers' Side Stop Only

This is a very nice motel! We stay here every time we come to Evanston. It's clean, maintained, and all of the staff are friendly and accommodating. I highly recommend this motel! It is also in a great location, right by a gas station, food, the freeway, and the rodeo grounds!
