A Comfy Bed, a Killer Breakfast, and a Free Drink (or Two) Booked this place on an online offer and rolled up a little earlier than check-in time. No room yet (fair enough), but they let us dump our luggage and handed us a complimentary drink to soften the blow — solid start. Bags stashed, booze sipped, we set off to explore the neighbourhood. The location’s spot on: Waterloo, the Tate Modern, and the Globe Theatre all within a sensible stroll (ideal for a quick culture injection before the cocktails). Back at 3pm sharp we checked in properly — greeted warmly, handed another complimentary drink (I could get used to this), and whisked up to our 12th-floor room. The room itself ticked all the boxes: coffee machine, kettle, fully-stocked (but not free) fridge, and a shower that felt like it could power-wash a small car. Toiletries were excellent too — lifesaver, since I’d forgotten my razor. Despite the hotel being on the same road as an ambulance station, the soundproofing was top-notch. Not a single siren broke my beauty sleep. The bed? Absolute heaven. Possibly the comfiest I’ve had in a hotel, with pillow options for both the firm-believer and the softie. But let’s talk breakfast — because, wow. Warm welcome, coffee on arrival, and then a spread that could put most brunch spots out of business. Fresh juices (including homemade lemonade that deserved its own Michelin star), cereals, pastries, gluten-free goodies, cold cuts, cheeses, salmon (raw and cooked for the indecisive), salads, fruit, yoghurt, and a very respectable cooked breakfast. No black pudding, but I’ll forgive them. And then the sweets table: millionaire shortbread, little cakes, and — wait for it — tubs of M&Ms. Tiny tip to the hotel: maybe put a note on them saying contains nuts. Didn’t bother me, but could bother someone else. Minor gripe: only two lifts working out of three. Cue a few awkward “are we all getting in or…?” moments. Overall though, this hotel is fantastic. Lovely staff, great location, comfy beds, and a breakfast I’m still dreaming about. I’ll definitely be back. One final word of warning (not the hotel’s fault): on our way back one evening we saw two people get their phones snatched right out of their hands. Brutal to watch, so please keep your devices tucked away when out and about.
