Just had a lovely stay at Bowlish house - we were visiting for a wedding - me and my 2 young children. Maryanne was a wonderful host, nothing was too much trouble. Lovely breakfast, really good tea and coffee facilities. Our room was lovely and she was great with the kids who absolutely loved her.

We had a lovely time and have already recommended Bowlish House to many friends. It is the quintessential country house hotel. The rooms are cozy & the breakfast is delicious. It was the perfect spot from which to explore the rest of Somerset

The charming property together with host Nicola's ability to make us feel so at ease and comfortable are the main points to mention. The character of the house, even the creaky floorboards, was very appealing. The effort to make our stay so personal particularly as it was to celebrate my father's 80th birthday was immeasurable. Beds exceptionality comfortable, lovely hot shower, breakfast was amazing and our dog felt like he was at a home from home, made a friend and shared a sausage at breakfast.
This was a true gem of a place to stay, with a very attentive host who couldn't do enough to please us. 

Unfathomable Beauty!

Stayed here for three days in September.  Absolute find, spiffing views, unparalleled service, historical opulence. 

From booking to stay the experience was first to none. Owners looked after me all the way throughout and  on site the Sterling service continued right up until departure.

Great food, amazing rooms, and in matched aesthetics! Garden makes Kew look like a small park!

Nicola was a fantastic host, very attentive and extremely welcoming, especially to our dog Dougal. We really enjoyed our stay at Bowlish House, most of all the decor, breakfast and lovely family that live there.

Wow! I attended a Wake at Bowlish House Hotel. I had travelled a long way, so wanted to freshen up before I attended the Service. Nicola and her team were clearing up after a party the previous evening and weren't expecting guests until 4.00pm...BUT I was knocking on the hotel door at 11.00am!  Immediately I felt welcomed and valued. I was offered a room to use and refreshments. Then in the afternoon, Nicola greeted me warmly again and was respectful of our family. The buffet was AMAZING - the variety, the presentation, the quality of food - all homemade and all absolutely delicious, and was bountiful. I was offered a doggy bag as I had to leave - and the dcone was truly scrumptious! Jodie our waitress was unobtrusive yet friendly and helpful. Thank you Nicola and your team for going above and beyond, not just once - but throughout the day - not just to me, but to all the guests.

We stayed over New year and took all 6 rooms as we are two large families. Our stay rates 11 out of ten. Nicola is a superb host, arranging an incredible new years eve dinner for all 11 of us. We felt like the house was our home, but without having to lift a finger! The hotel is a beautiful building and the squeaky floorboards add to the charm. I reallt cannot find a single fault.

We stayed at Bowlish House earlier this month while visiting the English Countryside after a Jane Austen tour of Bath.  The historic home (1732) predates Jane Austen, and is exactly the kind of Palladian/Georgian manor house she might have stayed in or stopped into for a party.  The original character features of the house have been well preserved, and it's been sensitively renovated and filled with art.  The owners are very charming people, for whom nothing is too much trouble.  The cream tea with freshly baked scones upon arrival were much appreciated, as was our full English breakfast with fried bread and local sausages.  All in all, a cosy and authentic stay in the English Countryside.  Highly recommend!

My wife and I stayed at the Bowlish House Hotel for a wedding nearby. The hotel itself was beautiful and Nicola who runs the hotel could not do enough for us to ensure the stay was memorable. Can't recommend enough.

We were blown away by our stay here. The room was big and grand and they could probably charge entry for their wonderful and unusual art pieces - this place is really something special. We’re already looking in the diary to find a date to come back!

A quaint hotel with a very welcoming atmosphere and lots of artistic touches. Nothing was too much trouble.  A wide variety of options for the continental breakfast. Although a listed building it did not seem creepy at night. Central for visiting Wells and Glastonbury but need to drive somewhere to eat as even a long walk into Shepton Mallet and we enjoy walking.  Wonderful host

Superb Somerset Experience!

We stayed at Bowlish House over the August bank holiday and had the most idyllic stay. Elegant and welcoming, the owners have created exquisite interiors in this Georgian gem. The rooms are all wonderfully comfortable and scattered with gorgeous paintings and art. Our bedroom had a huge window overlooking the garden with a lovely roll top bath beneath to soak in and enjoy the view. The hosts are fantastic - they couldn't be more welcoming, helpful and fun! The house is a short drive to Bruton and to the Tor, so perfectly located for exploring Somerset. It's very kid and dog friendly, but also a perfect place to unwind (next time we will bring the dog!)

What an exquisite property! From the moment entering Bowlish House we were utterly charmed. Our family was greeted by the lovely and welcoming hosts, and the manor itself is dazzling, having been restored to its Georgian heritage with contemporary accents and stunning art throughout. We learnt the host couple have both worked in the arts and it shows. The flourishing garden is gorgeous as well, and our children were able to play while we enjoyed a glass of wine in the afternoon sun. Each room has been decorated with boutique sensibilities and artistic finesse, and the views of the English countryside are breathtaking. Tons of local attractions nearby such as the marvelous Hauser&Wirth complex, Stonehenge, and Wells Cathedral. Breakfast was fantastic, with a proper cup of coffee, organic eggs, and avocado toast. Can’t wait to go back!

Charming B&B in the heart of Somerset

The food is great and the staff is really nice and able to help you in any way.There are creaky floors but it doesn’t matter. it’s a beautiful old house with art and antiques. The beds are really comfortable and pillows and no stains or weird smells on the blankets. my avocado toast and poached eggs breakfast was amazing, and the natural orange juice.nice hosts too
