Meeting up with American relatives and we had traveled from Preston only to be told sorry there isn’t a booking !!! However, what a fantastic place Beth immediately started finding a table for five ( even though the place was jammed! .. what a gorgeous girl professional and nothing was too much trouble . Food superb all home cooked .. quick service , friendly staff and showed the Americans the hospitality of the Cumbrians .. We will be back but a huge pat on the back to all the staff and of course the chef

One of the best inns we 've ever stayed. The rooms were large , clean and warm. Great shower and big bath tub. Dog friendly if you have yours with you, family friendly and couple friendly. Plenty of parking, but obviously close to the station.
The staff were exceptional especially Sam - made us so welcome. When it comes to the food, a broad menu but not overwhelming, a reasonable price structure which had meal times busy but managed so well.. Great food at great prices just done very well !! Grest chef/ kitchen team.Thanks Station Inn, we 'll be back !!

A wonderfully warm place just a short walk from the train station. The new manager, Linda, and her team make you feel welcome from the moment you step through the door. The staff are friendly and keen to help. 

I've enjoyed every meal I've had there. There are plenty of fresh and tasty dishes on the menu to choose from. It's also very reasonably priced. Several times I heard customers give compliments to the chef.  Remember to book to avoid disappointment. It can get busy, especially towards the end of the week. 

There are many places to sit in the traditional bar area, tucked away dining room, and the beer garden and by the playpark. 

The pub has a cheery and welcoming atmosphere with a community feel, especially during events like the quiz night on Thursdays. 

The local area is beautiful. Busses and trains from the nearby station take you deeper into The Lake District should you wish to explore. 

I'd recommend this place to anyone wanting delicious and affordable food in this area or spacious and light rooms on the edge of The Lake District. 



This is a great place for a warm summer eve with views over the hills in both directions. Staff very friendly, we had a mix of starters as small plates, all delicious! Afterwards you can walk along the Helm for a spectacular sunset and more great views.

We went for lunch, a wide range offered on the menu and a separate vegan and vegetarian menu too. 

The food and service were lovely and the staff were really friendly and helpful. We had the seabass dish which was different and gorgeous and a generous portion. 

Would recommend a visit here if you’re in the area. 

Perfect location as close to the office and the train station (it’s in walking distance but up a very steep bank). Rooms were clean and comfortable (although maybe a little too hot)  I had a fantastic nights sleep! The owners were exceptional and accommodating and their lovely dog kept us entertained for the 3 days we were there! Food was great value and there is an option for a set meal on an evening which offered a wide variety of dishes! Additionally  there is a pool table away from the restaurant!  Thanks for the hospitality   I will definitely be returning!

We choose this place for an overnight stop as it is just a few miles off the M6 and a sat nav  makes location easy.   The rooms  are in  separate wing which is well heated and very well appointed.  We had an evening meal which was good quality pub food and the breakfast was all you could ask for - served by cheerful and friendly staff.  It was good value for money.

Staying here since Christmas Eve and the place is lovely food is excellent drinks reasonable staff very friendly rooms are very cozy we stayed in room Borrowdale the hotel is dog friendly as well really enjoying our stay thanks for a nice Christmas.Carl and Sue and little Arthur the Yorkshire Terrier

Called in on the off chance of grabbing a quick lunch. 

We were made welcome by the staff and sat near the open fire in the bar area.  

We had the Scampi and a Chicken Burger, both were produced quickly and were excellent value.  

We would definitely come back again

Overnight stay on my way down south for a funeral and couldn't have asked for a better place.

Room was lovely and very comfortable although the bathroom was quite basic and perhaps in need of a facelift. Although I didn't eat or drink in the bar/restaurant, both looked like a great place to sit and while away the day or night.

Staff and service were excellent. As I was travelling early in the morning and would miss breakfast, I was given a room only rate which was really appreciated. I was also allowed to leave my car for 24 hours whilst I travelled which was also appreciated...!

Overall, I would happily recommend this place and would stay again if in the area.

Wonderful new manager and chef provide great service and delicious food

Gorgeous food

Party of 7 adults raging from 17-65 in age we booked the station for my niece 24th birthday, we had starters and mains and enjoyed the cocktails on draft! Staff were super friendly and helpful, they allowed us to bring a cake and helped serve, atmosphere was lovely with a singer on later in the evening, will absolutely be back for more occasions.

Christmas Break

Lovely find. Needed a place to stay a night after a train up from the south on my way to a meeting. Will be back for a proper stay. Lovely refurbished rooms 7 min from station. Very dog friendly. Great walking country. Friendly welcome even after England’s defeat to Scotland the day before :-)
