The New Inn

Whilst on a day trip i came across the New Inn by chance.
It looks like something from a film set so thought I'd have a look inside.
It would appear the people of old were vertically challenged, So if you're 6ft +
be prepared to walk around looking at your feet to avoid the low beams of the
ceiling...Our American cousins will love it especially the short ones
I ordered a pint and as it came up i noticed a sign on the bar offering a pint and burger for £15 so i gave it a go.
I took my pint and settled into a comfortable leather sofa
Halfway through my drink the food was delivered to my table looking magnificent.
As i started to eat i didn't realize how hungry i was, the taste was just as it looked. It had great taste and no gristle
When i had finished i asked at the bar and was told the meat is locally sourced brisket.
I would definitely return

Hardly new… this inn dates from 1777, so is just a year younger than the USA.
My falafel was moist and delicious and filling and my side of garlic spinach was very tasty. 
My companions went for fish’n’chips, steak & ale
Pie and curry.
But what made our meal memorable was the polite and bubbly service we were afforded.
The staff went beyond reasonable expectations in being helpful and proactive - “I’ve brought you a spoon as well in case that helps with eating the curry” and so thoughtful.
The varied menu coupled with the great staff would make this a great regular for locals and a treat for visitors.

Went in and fell in love with it from the first glance as an American we don't have anything like this and when we sat down I told the rest of my family who had not been to England before this is why I love this country.  The food did not disappoint and the view of the cathedral was amazing thank you for great pictures and even better memories. 

Had a great Sunday roast, Sirloin of beef and pork loin. Both cooked very well, with tasty veggies inc pea shoots, red cabbage and cauliflower cheese. Plenty of great food. I had a prawn cocktail starter, again a decent size. Staff very attentive, and surroundings comfortable. Would definitely eat there again

Perfect place for an evening meal. The food was fantastic, the atmosphere was great and the staff were incredibly friendly and hospitable. The pub itself is also very warm and cosy, can’t recommend highly enough!

My favourite pub in Salisbury for the Wednesday night quiz. Bar Staff are very good and the  food is lovely. The atmosphere in the pub is great on a Wednesday evening. The pub also has a fantastic garden with some great sunny spots and shade, if you prefer.

Dropped in on our first night visiting Salisbury, just wanted drinks as we had planned eating elsewhere. Greeted warmly and given a choice of tables inside or in the garden - we chose the latter. The garden is fully enclosed and mature, very pleasant. The badger beer went down a treat and I had a pint of all three on offer.  The following day we went back for food and what a great decision, both meals were superb, tasty, well presented, and hot. The food was so good we called in a couple of days later and experienced the same great treatment from the staff.
This place is excellent with a fantastic front house crew that the management should be proud of.  If in Salisbury again we will definitely be back.

This is a beautiful pub in the heart of the city centre. Social distancing taken seriously and a lovely bunch of front of house staff.

The food is gorgeous and they catered to me altering my order slightly from the menu. Everyone is helpful and attentive will be back again.

Quaint Tudor public house, serving the delicious Hall and Woodhouse beers. Dark stained wooden beams and period features. Extremely atmospheric and a great place to take refuge from the elements or pop in for a quick drink or a meal.

Great atmosphere and very attentive staff. A word about the food though. It seems hot and cold food is served on cold plates which means your meal will either get cold quickly or you need to eat quickly. It seems the hit cupboard and heat lamps are not used here. The food is delicious- just spoilt by the cold plate.

This was a very acceptable meal. I don’t want to dam with faint praise but it was good if not outstanding.

All the staff members were very friendly and helpful. They gave the impression that they enjoyed what they were doing.

All the food appeared to have been made or at least the majority of the preparation done on the premises. Our starters were not just something reheated from a freezer and the burgers we had for our main course were handmade and not bought in. 

I drank their “Pickled Partridge” Christmas beer - very nice :)

The only criticism I can come up with is that the flavours of the meal lacked a certain something. Something giving slightly more umami flavours to each course would have improved the overall taste.

That said we still enjoyed our meal. We’re only in Salisbury for two nights so I doubt we’ll be going back, but if we did, I wouldn’t be unhappy.
