I booked this hotel online and as always, took a chance on what I was going to get. Suffice to say, I was very pleasantly surprised when I walked into reception. This hotel oozes the character of an old Manor House. Wood panelled walls and very tasteful decoration make this hotel a very nice place to be in. I stayed in room 28 which is part of the series of rooms outside of the main building, however the room was perfect for my needs with a scrupulously clean bathroom and very comfortable bed with crisp linen - nice touches in the room were trouser press, ironing board and iron, plenty of storage space and a small bowl of fresh fruit. There was plenty of seating in the bar area, I thoroughly enjoyed the steak and kidney pudding and I must give a special shout out to the chunky fishfinger sandwich - perfect for somebody who is hungry at lunchtime. The full English breakfast was really good and my poached eggs were absolutely perfect, all served in the main restaurant which would, at one time, been the Manor House Great Hall. I really look forward to returning to this hotel. On one note, if you want to take afternoon tea here, it would be best to book because on both Saturday and Sunday afternoons the place was full. My thanks go out to the general manager and staff for ensuring I had a brilliant weekend.
