We rented 2 eMTBs and a hard tail which were all excellent. The riding was fantastic with beautiful scenery. Neil helped us get organized and was helpful , professional and gave us great advice. The food in the cafe was perfect after 4 hrs on the bikes.

I booked bikes for a family of five a few weeks ahead of a holiday to Swaledale  over the phone. The service was friendly, efficient and easy to arrange. On the day the bikes were ready and waiting, the explanations of what to do were easy to follow and resulted in us all having a brilliant day out together. If you have not tried mountain biking before this is a really good place to start. Thanks very much!

Excellent bike company with a wide range of bikes. First time using an electric mountain bike and boy do they make a difference. The swail trail was a great experience for an almost novice bike rider , beautiful views and tough uphills but a great day. Dales was well organised and very professional

Comfortable lodging, expert bike rentals, and cake.

We rented a couple of excellent Trek Domani road bikes from the Dales Bike Center last month.  Stu Price & his team adjusted them to fit us, added racks and handlebar bag mounts, and toe clips--we were impressed with their expertise and customer service.  Getting set up and ready to ride took less than an hour.

We enjoyed a sound night's sleep in the cozy bunkhouse and a hearty hot breakfast (included in the price) before setting out to spend a week cycling around the Dales.  

Accommodations and amenities were superior to most hostels; rooms have bunk beds, seating area, and enough room to pack/unpack gear.  There was a small shared kitchen, shower, and loo.  We had access to the TV and seating area in the cafe in the evening, which let us spread out maps and write some letters and post cards.  

Taxi to/from Darlington Train Station was about $50 (US) and far more convenient than any of the bus service options.  No Uber or Lyft in Darlington.  Recommend reserving taxi in advance.


After spending a busy few hours at the Reeth Show down the road we enjoyed cake and coffee and a good sit down in the sun.  We overhead  another customer complaining about the wait for their drinks -  but as the staff were dealing with large volumes of customers we thought they did a very good job!

Very friendly welcome to the bike hire, we had booked bikes online so they were ready when we arrived.
Very helpful man got us organised with helmets and talked us through the bikes and our planned route.
Had a fantastic day biking the swale trail over to Keld. All bikes were well maintained, my electric bike allowed me to keep up with my more able family members!!!
Nice tea, coffee and cakes upon return. One staff member great, other just hung round looking uninterested.
Would definitely return and highly recommend the bike hire.

I booked the bunkhouse for a weekend of mountain biking with friends.
The accommodation was clean, tidy, comfortable and, most importantly after a full day battling winter gales across the summits, toasty warm! The environmental considerations and sustainabilty ethos of the entire centre also impressed.
All the staff were welcoming and friendly and gave us fantastic advice regarding route planning. Stu in particular has a wealth of local knowledge. He recommended tweaks to routes in order to maximise technical riding, pointed us towards some sublime descents that we would otherwise have missed, and even advised us on tackling one route in the opposite direction to that advertised because of the prevailing wind direction. We were particularly grateful for the latter. Being a circuit, half the ride was spent battling a constantly gusting headwind. It was brutally character building but had we stuck with the direction on our trail map, the ride would have been no fun whatsoever.
The cafe food was delicious, the bike shop well stocked with a great selection of quality gear and the bike wash and drying room are welcome additions to the facilities. 
Dales Bike Centre has everything needed for a great biking or hiking holiday. I highly recommend it.

This has been our favourite place to eat and drink after a lengthy walk, for about as long as it’s been there. The new cafe is very pleasant but was full so we chose a table outside in the sunshine and people watched as we enjoyed our meal. Our soup was fresh, thick and warming and sandwiches were filled to capacity. We ate our cake later. We have no idea whether prices have gone up since moving to the new building,  we just know that we love being there in beautiful countryside with breathtaking views of the Dale. We aren’t able to visit often, it’s a treat, so who cares? We wish you every success. 

An amazing weekend again thanks to Stu and his staff. As always Stu is so friendly and helpful as is Ian in the workshop. The hire bikes are in first class condition, which can’t be said for others that I’ve hired from. 
Accommodation is brilliant, clean and fresh.
We were mountain biking but the accommodation is for everyone.
The newly built cafe is as amazing as the cakes that are on offer which are out of this world, so much so that I brought a selection home for the family.

We hired bikes from Dales Bike centre for a 1/2 day cycle along the Swale trail. The service was excellent from start to finish. We hired very hire quality mountain bikes and thoroughly enjoyed the cycle route. There is an excellent cafe at the centre where we enjoyed sandwiches and cakes on our return. Parking and toilets available (I think showers too)

The bike hire here was the priciest I've come across but in fairness, the quality of the bikes was also the best I've experienced as well. Really friendly and efficient service and a great place to hire mountain bikes for the Swale Trail. The cafe was a little on the pricey side as well but again, in fairness they serve a great coffee and had some really tempting cakes!
