Bed & Breakfast Im Klee

This place is chilled. An old orphanage, it is very spacious, gentle and immaculate,with very comfortable beds and home-from-home comforts. The views to the Klee museum and the mountain beyond are very open and it's great to be in a rural environment so close to the city. Bus stop about four minutes' walk across parkland and buses every five to ten minutes it seemed; because the bus stop is at the end of the line the bus seems to wait there, so you always just step straight onto one, perhaps wait a couple of minutes, then the next one arrives and the bus departs for the fifteen minutes into the centre of town, through suburbia and then giving great views across the river and down onto the lower town. There are five rooms, two women's showers, three men's showers, two toilets and six wash hand basins. I didn't see anyone else in there the whole time. Plenty and very, very clean and nice and warm. The feel of the place is very calm and spacious. There's a small dining area where you have breakfast, continental and they'll cook you eggs any way you like, bacon too. You can use the dining area at other times to picnic or use the microwave, cutlery and crockery provided. You can make tea, coffee or hot chocolate at 1 franc. Near the dining area is a seating area with books and a few games and puzzles. The staff are very courteous and helpful, relaxed and just lovely. They don't seem to be around all the time, so don't count on leaving luggage there all day after you check out, however the Paul Klee centre has free lockers large enough for cabin bags, 20F adult entrance to the centre. The feel of the place is slightly retro with sparse furnishings, see photos, that made it all the more relaxed for us. Plenty of power points, hairdriers to borrow. No TVs. We'd come back in a heartbeat.
