In general, a very positive host, it's true. Good, responsive. But, wet, dirty, not for impressive people. If you want to talk to the locals safely and without bills.

The owner is, but... it's very wet.

Me and my friend stayed there for 2 nights. The room was very nice (we even had chairs and a table inside and outside to use) with a bed and a bathroom for a fair price. The owner made us really good dinner twice (even with a candle) for a more than fair price. 
We had very nice talks with the owner (really good english!) and he even went to the market with us so that they don't overprice us for spices. 
The room is like 2km from the city center but there are two short cuts (which he will tell you when you ask him) so you are down there in less than 10 minutes)! 
Would totally recommend staying there when you are in Kandy (:

Very nice room and owner!

Horrible... because a toilet called a guest house! Maybe they haven't cleaned it for years... I hope the trip advaisor team will go get the sticker off him... and an offence to the site!

Less than zero

Located on the hillside of Kandy (15min walk downhill to city, 30min uphill) there is a view on Kandy's giant buddha.
The host was very kind and helpful, made good homemade food.
Wifi was good but working time to time.

Only issue was the dirty room. It had clearly not been cleaned for a while : dusty floor, bathroom full of ants and bugs... No warm water.
Too bad because with very little effort the room could be fixed properly and cleaned.

Nice host but dirty room

The only problem we've had is that it's not easy to find it the first time around, and that's what almost everyone who booked a room in this place is faced with. It was especially difficult to find it at night and in heavy rain. In the bedroom, a couple of tubs and a bathtub with cold water. Considering that it's all done in the mountains, where sometimes it's very cold, sometimes it's very hot. Around beautiful places and in the morning there are a lot of monkeys.

A great secluded place.

Went with my Guide to Experience Sri Lanka Foods and Found Lordy is the Owner & Chef in this Lodge very friendly, good chef ,Nice View of Kandy with Foods also best value for money..

An ideal location, less than 10 minutes from the city noise A very good breakfast The monkeys wake up and most of all a HUGE owner LORDY is a great person, with little care and very kind.

A great stay in Kandy.

We got to Kandy late, we needed a cheap place to stay overnight. The conditions were - not far and cheap. We got a short drive from the center, 10 minutes to the mountain. We got out, 20 minutes searched, the geolocation is wrong everywhere, it's in a different place. When we hit the house in the dark, the doubt was gone. The building was in a very sad state. We woke the owner up, asked him to show us a spare room. He showed us. We were shocked - but it was already too late to change something. We stayed. But it was really scary - the toilet was in a very sad state, it all came out of confusion, it was very senseless and it smelled bad.

The quiet horror

We really enjoyed staying in Kandy under the fantastic hospitality of the property owner. This accommodation is located just above the hills of Kandy and gives you great views over the city and surrounding hills. The rooms are basic, but at a very affordable price. Big thanks to the very kind owner for his help and hospitality!

Value for money

When we arrived Lordy was waiting for us, we got a cup of tea before we setteld in our room. The room had everything we needed and the cosy terras was a big plus. Lordy made us a very nice dinner and joined us afterwards with a glass of arrack. 

It was a lovely stay!
