Hotel Sinharagama Resort & Spa

We spontaneously found the hotel on December 17th, 2021 on the way back from the Wildpattu National Park. The first thing we noticed was the very well-kept restaurant. We then inspected the rooms. The rooms are quite large and have a good standard. The bathroom is large and the functionality is "Sri Lanka-like", which means that the fittings do not work perfectly.
In the restaurant, we and our driver were served a very good dinner and morning meal. The chef "Mister Chathuranga" has international professional experience, which you can see in the good quality and the beautiful presentation of the dishes.
The willingness to help was great when the driver noticed that one of the vehicle's tires was out of air. Spontaneously someone drove to the nearest garage to repair the damage there.
The management was courteous and friendly.
Conclusion: A hotel that I can recommend. The price-performance ratio was good.

We had a very pleasant stay at the hotel.
We encountered it by chance through a travel agency and we’re not at all left disappointed. Instead we found extremely friendly staff that tried to help us with all our requests as well as they could.
The room was nice and comfortable and the food was more than excellent.
Also do not miss a stroll to the lake across the street (just walk down the street past the little store for a bit) - it is simply stunning!

Stayed two nights at this place on fb basis. Convenient location between Anuradhapura and Wilpaththu national park as we wanted to visit both places from one place. About 15 mins drive to Wilpaththu entrance and 20 mins drive to Anuradhapura. Although there was no buffet or there were not many options to select from, the Sri Lankan food they served was very good. Well invested place with spacious rooms and outdoor.  The packages were reasonably priced.  I do not want to complain about the staff or the management during this difficult time for tourism amidst covid 19, as they did best as they could, in the current situation.

Lovely place with beautiful scenic views of paddy fields. staff was very friendly and served delicious foods plus they have an in-house bar and pub. Has good spacious rooms with all amenities and decent bathrooms plus ample, secure parking for vehicles. Swimming pool and a banquet is also available at the premises and the resort is situated by the main road of Putlam and Anuradhapura within half an hour distance to the sacred city of Anuradhapura. It took us about 10 minutes to the entrance of the Wilpattu national park and the safari tour was arranged on request by the resort. The place is totally worth the price and I surely recommend it!
I would love to revisit them...

I could not fault this hotel.The building were very clean and pleasantly decorated,and conditioned throughout.The bedroom was excellent,well furnished and comfortable with a bathroom which had a good shower.There was a hospitality tray.        
The dining room dinner and breakfast buffets were first class and very good value.
There were very well tended gardens.
I was with a tour and do not know what the room prices were so ignore my entry for them

You will be lucky if you can eat in peace. I had to rush my food and run back into the car whilst my husband finished his food. The place is packed with mosquitoes, the restaurant doesn’t care though. They put a mosquito plug in when they saw I was struggling but it should be done way before customers get there. Majority of the time when we visit it’s only us there, the place is never busy. The fried rice is really nice, soup is great too. I had the burger for the first time and I was very pleased with the chef (I hope they stay). The restaurant toilet is also nice and decent to use. The resort was closed completely on a Thursday evening, not sure what happened here. Otherwise we would have stopped by again. Definitely recommend for food but I wont stay here at the hotel, due to all the negative comments on here. 

Great Food but be aware of mosquitoes everywhere! 

We stayed here two nights as we wanted to go to the Wilpattu National Park. The park is 20 km / 25 minutes drive away from the hotel. The rooms are very spacious and everything was clean. There is AC, TV, WiFi, kettle to make tea, proper desk and huge bed. It has a small private balcony overviewing the paddy field. Very quiet. The bathroom is also spacious with toilet paper, towels. The swimming pool is tiny and was green/not usable. This hotel is defintely not a resort! There were a lot of tiny problems in the room, indicating poor maintanance (can't lock bathroom door, no place to put soap, trash bin falls apart, only 1 of the 4 showers we took had hot water, etc.). But as said it was clean. We were happy with the meals and service. For breakfast there was a big buffet (Sri Lankan hot meal varieties, toast and jam, fruits, eggs made as you like). We also ate dinner there a la carte. The food was good, we enjoyed chatting in the dining area as in the evening there is hardly anybody there. The price for the dinner was ok, not cheap but also not very expensive like other hotels. Overall I felt the charges for the room/breakfast are a little bit too high.

Fine to stay a couple of nights

Location and Access – Approximately 20 minutes’ drive from Anuradhapura the property is in a remote location on the main Trincomalee A12 road with no local shops, restaurants or other facilities

Google Earth – The hotel can partly be seen on street view along with neighbouring roads

Architectural Style – The initial appearance is that of a road side café. Behind is a low rise 2 storey block of hotel rooms and to the side a separate large white building containing a wedding hall

Reception – On entering the building it is not clear where the reception is located and turns out to be up a flight of open stairs on a mezzanine level. Our check in was processed very well and efficiently

Public Areas/Decor – These have all the potential of being very good. But the large glass windows and doors of the restaurant/entrance are filthy and the place is infested with flies giving a very downhearted first impression. Extensive landscaped gardens are very well maintained

Guest Facilities – In the grounds is a good-sized clean warm swimming pool with loungers

Guest Rooms – There are several grades and we had opted for a deluxe on the first floor and this turned out to be far superior than had been feared. Extremely large with high wood panelled ceilings, a sitting area, roomy bathroom and balcony overlooking verdant open countryside

Decor/Maintenance/Cleanliness – A little dark but fairly clean and well maintained

Furnishing/Bed – Two reasonably comfortable large beds and side tables, wardrobe, wooden arm chairs and coffee table, dressing table and mirror. On the balcony 2 further chunky wooden arm chairs and table. Linen and towels acceptable

Bathroom – A large space with modern but slightly worn fixtures and fittings Everything worked well including the shower although hot water took a little time to flow. Some complimentary toiletries

Space – Very large with identifiable sitting and sleeping areas made to feel more spacious by a large balcony and bathroom

Amenities including Entertainment – The TV had an excellent selection of satellite channels. Free wifi provided super-fast connectivity. Mini fridge and tea and coffee making

Lighting – Artificial lighting was adequate. Natural light from large windows on 2 sides (including the French doors to the balcony) Unfortunately drapes did not blackout daylight which was a slight issue as the balcony faced east

Air Conditioning – The A/C unit was too small for the size of the room but was assisted by a ceiling fan
Functionality – Plenty of international standard plug sockets handy for charging mobile devices

Noise – Very quiet in such a rural location. However, unless I was dreaming I think I was slightly disturbed by early morning chanting and drumming from a nearby Buddhist Temple

Food Offering – Tables in the restaurant were set out formally. However, we were put off dining there by the overall appearance of the place and the preponderance of flies. We did chance breakfast which can only be described as dreadful

Security – CCTV, 24-hour reception, Security staff in grounds, in room safe box

Value for Money – The room price was reasonable and would have been very good except for the poor breakfast experience

X Factor – The rural location is very pleasant and the rooms and grounds more than adequate for a one night stay for anyone passing through Anuradhapura as part of a tour of Sri Lanka

Hotel, Cafe/Restaurant or Wedding Hall

We had two rooms here on two nights on 30th April and 1st May 2018 during a visit to the famed Wilpattu National Park.  We booked this because it was the only place near the park that had advertised a swimming pool.  The hotel is about 11 km from the park towards Anuradhapura.  The reception was above the dining hall - not at the entrance! 
We were impressed on arrival – rooms promptly allocated on first floor, baggage brought to the rooms.  The rooms were clean and large, air conditioned, bed linen and towels clean, toilets clean too.  There was a small TV, fridge, kettle + tea, good outside view.  First impressions were good.  However we found that the air conditioner at 18 degrees was barely effective.
When we went for lunch however, my opinion changed completely.  The Sri Lankan buffet served was of very low quality – rice, chicken, fish, beet root and dhal with pappad, lime pickle.  Some ordered noodles and burger with chips.  There was no butter for the toast only margarine!  Dinner was equally bad.  The devilled chicken dish was mainly bones.  The seer fish meal ordered was not seer but another fish of low quality.  There is no liquor as they have no liquor licence.  Though we stayed for two days, my wife and I went out for the rest of the meals.  
Visited the pool on 1st may to take a dip.  The pool was green with algae showing that there is no chlorination.  Quite naturally we did not get in although we had seen some people there earlier.  On both nights in both rooms there were cockroaches !!
Though the hotel is new – unless the management improves, it is bound to be another run-down place!!
