Sao Lourenço Village

Sao Lourenco Village is a hidden gem at the heart of the beautiful Quinta do Lago estate on the Algarve coast of Portugal. Quinta do Lago is justifiably rated as the best resort in Europe. It is encircled by the beautiful Sao Lourenco golf course with views across fairways and lakes. The village is perfectly presented and very well-managed. Inevitably it is busy and buzzy in the July and September high season and, at that time, suits families with children rather than young people and couples. From April to the end of June and during September and October, it is better suited for couples. It is a three minute drive or a twenty minute walk from beaches of clean white sand stretching for miles in either direction. There are a plenty of restaurants within walking or driving distance including a number with Michelin stars and those more suited to families with children. If you are golfer there are four courses within easy reach on the Quinta do Lago estate in addition to Sao Lourenco golf course. These include the excellent south and north courses at Quinta do Lago golf club and Laranjal. Quinta's south course has hosted the Portuguese open on a several occasions. Sao Lourenco has one benefit or drawback, depending on what you look for a holiday in the sun - it is nowhere near any night clubs. We would recommend you hire a car to get to the nearest shops and to get around the Quinta estate generally. We have been holidaying in Sao Lourenco village and other parts of the Quinta do Lago estate for the last thirty years and it is an exceptional place to spend time and relax. We wake every morning and remind each other that we about to spend another day in paradise. And by the way, the weather is glorious!
