Hostal Conde Meloc

A great locations, friendly staff and comfortable beds. 

The staff were really helpful in storing our bags for the 4 days we were climbing Machu Picchu. They also helped us book with bus tickets at the end of our stay. 

The rooms were a little chilly on the colder nights but the staff were happy to provide extra blankets.

Breakfast is pretty standard, but if you smile nicely to the person in charge you might get some scrambled eggs thrown in.

Would recommend.


The greatest thing about this place was the personnel, the owners are at the front desk most of the time and were VERY helpful and accommodating. The price is affordable, its near the center of the city and the rooms were huge! We were a group of four staying at two double rooms, but if we wanted to we could definitely have stayed comfortably in one room (although I don't know if that is permitted). My only inconvenience was the hot water pressure in the showers, a couple of days we had problems and had to check with the front desk. Definitely would stay there again.

I had a comfortable stay with private room at $80 soles. However, it would be nice if the facility provided towels. Breakfast was included (continental breakfast). Jennifer, the receptionist, was friendly and helpful. 

After having a bad experience in another hostel, this was such a warm welcome! We showed up at the late afternoon and the receptionist in charge helped us with our bags and offered tea in the room. Room and beds are okay. Don't expect too much from the breakfast, just a bread with butter/marmelade and tea or coffee. Location is nice.

Friendly place in town centre

Comfortable and friendly service

I strongly not recommend staying at this place. During our stay 3 people have had money stolen from the room at the total amount of 180$ and 50 Euro. 
Normally we were very careful and wherever we went we took our precious things. That morning was exception for all of us - our last breakfast, running for taxi to the airport. And then it revealed our money was stolen. On top the owner refused to check the situation and help us. Maybe she was involved in that. 
Additionally warm shower in the morning is not guaranteed, only if you ask the reception in the morning then then turn on warm water. Not mentioning that we had a reservation for the whole group but the lady "deleted" it so for the first nights we were placed in different hostel indicated by the owner, where again 2 persons had stolen things. Strange place. Avoid it!
