Aguas Calientes

The hotel has wonderful views from the rooms facing the Urubamaba River with comfortable beds, however the room I was in had no Wi-Fi coverage except in the corner nearest the door.
The room was also quite noisy from early in the morning due to the buses departing for Machu Picchu from 6am onwards.
Breakfast was generous and the staff were friendly and helpful.

Reception is ready, the hotel is very cozy, hospitable those who have heating for the cold days, the bathrooms very clean, the view of the river was that we love the sound of the river even more. Breakfast caters to all food needs. I recommend.

El Hotel Santuario, located at 105 Avenida Hermanos Ayar, in the village of Machupicchu-Aguas Calientes, displays an interesting exhibition of replicas of paintings and sculptures from the Cusco school.

I thought it was an excellent service. the breakfast table was very kind and the gentleman at the reception also listened to us and spoke to us very openly giving us advice about the place and the most crowded places. the room was very nice, it had two rooms so there was enough space for a family of four. the breakfast was the best, there was variety and everything was wonderful. it is very close to the most crowded places, it is easily accessible and the price is very fair for the service they are providing.

Excellent and accurate.

My experience at Hotel Santuario was excellent. I had a shower the first night and the following afternoon after I did my hike to Machu Picchu. The hot water worked fine both times. I had a room with two beds. The spacing in the room was fine. It was chilly the two nights I was in Aguas Calientes but the bed sheets and blankets kept me warm. There is an elevator at this hotel. The wifi at the hotel worked excellent. The continental breakfast consisted of eggs, sausage, sliced ham, another sliced meat (I didn't ask the name), pineapples, papaya, watermelon, avocado, brocolli, croissant, sesame bread, and a few other items. The view from my room was amazing. I could see the river and the mountains. The lobby gives you a good view as well. The river had a relaxing sound to it that made me fall asleep easy at night. The hotel is clean. The staff is polite and professional. The receptionist had put me in contact with a tour guide for Machu Picchu named Eddy. Eddy did a fantastic job. This hotel is off the main strip so it is very quiet. If you plan to walk/hike to Machu Picchu from Aguas Calientes this hotel is near the starting point for that.

A Nice Stay At Hotel Santuario

We thank the owner and Mr. Robert for such special attention and hospitality, we feel at home, happy to have stayed with my family. a super clean, organized hotel, the beautiful and comfortable room, the delicious and varied breakfast buffet.

A wonderful experience.

We booked this hotel last minute and were very happy with the hotel. We had a large room with a private balcony overlooking the river. The river was very noisy but I guess this is the same for all hotels next to the river. The distance to the center of town is 10 minutes and we had great views from our room. Breakfast is simple but good and the best thing is that upon returning from Machu Picchu the bus dropped us at the entrance of the hotel. No more walking back from the bus station!

A great find! Excellent location

This is great for a one or two night stay. Cozy room that is clean. There are hand towels and bath towels provided along with the basic lotion, soap, shampoo and conditioner.  The room is older and provides heavy blankets for warmth.  There is a river outside so if you don't like the sound this may not be the room for you. It was an amazing view for me.  Also there is Wi-Fi.  Most television channels are in Spanish.  The staff was pleasant and held our luggage during our trek to Manchu.

Short Pleasant Stay

We only stayed here one night as we were there to go to Maccu Picchu.  The hotel is on the far end of the main stretch of buildings on the river, thus a bit of a walk to restaurants, but I found that to be a good thing once we were ready for sleep.

It's not a fancy hotel, by any stretch, but it is clean, has a little bar, decent amenities, and gets the job done.  The staff is very friendly. 

We had stored our bags there to retrieve them after Maccu Picchu to catch the evening train out.  Having hiked all day, we decided a shower might be a good, refreshing idea and inquired if that was an option. The staff let us rent a room for a couple of hours for the equivalent of $12 US so that we could shower before dinner and the train.

Great Option on a Budget - Nice, Helpful Staff

This hotel is on the edge of Aguas Calientes where the river flows down. It was a bit of an uphill walk to get to the market, or the bus station from the hotel. There were cute shops and restaurants near by. There is an elevator. The rooms do not have A/C which isn't a problem as it gets cold at night there - however the windows also do NOT have screens. We opened our windows to let some cool air in at night and swarms of bugs came in the room....After we took toilet paper and smashed a bunch of bugs, we decided to only open the window once the lights were off, and then put the window curtain through the window, to create suction and let some air in. This worked decently. The breakfast was pretty large, finding mostly the same items in all of hotels in Peru. The staff was nice and the rooms were clean. They are doing construction next door, so if you are staying a few days I would try to get a room away from that. The check out is early - at 9AM.
