The Oaks of Darfield

It was our 51st. Wedding Anniversary and so off we travel out to The oaks of Darfield and the treasured experiences of their lovely restaurant. Any time we have a reason to celebrate, we often get in the car, enjoy the drive and sit back and enjoy the elegant old school service but without the fuss of over the top silver service of the past. Instead, you have Hamish, ever the quiet, efficient and professional Manager who makes each visit an occasion and celebration. We both ordered the Fillet with mushrooms, potato cooked in duck fat, peas with Garlic and a small greens. Just Delicious. Then for deserts we ordered the orange sticky date pudding and a different version of Tiramisu. The Orange sticky date was divine and the Deconstructed Tiramisu was very good without being exceptional. Each time we visit , the food is always a real treat to savour and enjoy. B.Y.O. may be allowed but would need to be arranged with Hamish prior to coming. Bed and B Breakfast is part of the Oaks of Darfield offer and parking is plentiful out the back. The whole building and setting is so lovely with this old villa so beautifully set amongst the old trees and grounds. Footnote - if you feel like getting out of town and out in to the Country, the Oaks is perfect for a nice leisurely day out or even just for a coffee and desert perhaps. Best to book - do note - Theyopen I think from Thursday to Sunday only so do check before hand. Some days such as Mothers Day, there is a special high tea for Mothers day offer from12 p.m. to 5 p.m. with no other menue available on that day. For us, We will be back again as soon as we have a reason to celebrate or to just get away out of the city and enjoy a nice relaxed day out and would suggest that you too to go out and enjoy The oaks of Darfield experience.
