We stayed for two days in this beautiful, lovingly decorated guesthouse. Everything is like magic. The hostess makes a delicious, richly loved breakfast prepared for me. The house has very steep steps up to the rooms. Everything is new and lovingly decorated. A wonderful experience. Mittelbourg is only 5-10 minutes away on foot.

A magical guesthouse

The Guesthouse was amazing,.......... wonderful place in the centre of the city and a wonderful host, highly recommended for business and private residence. The front room has a great view of the ancient city port

We traveled from Groningen to Middelburg to stay here for one night. We were welcomed by Raymonde. She told us about the B&B and room. Also she had tips for dining that evening. The room was very nice. My husband slept very well but I didn't get enough sleep. The bed wasn't my type of bed. Also the pillow on the bed wasn't good for me. The next morning we got breakfast in the kitchen. Raymonde was very interested in our hobby Geocaching. Meanwhile we had breakfast. After reading all the critics this should be the summum of breakfast. Unfortunately we weren't blown away about the breakfast. It is a place near to the city and they have a great service!

Romantic room

We tried to cancel staying at this place 13 days and 6 hrs before are stay,we where told under no circumstances could we cancel due to the guesthouse's 14 day cancelation policy! After contacting booking,and the hotel we where told we would be charged the 89€ because we didn't cancel in time! 6hrs late. How pathetic is that! enjoy spending our 89€. 
It's amazing how many people repeat to others about bad experiences.

Avoid booking this place if by chance something out of your control stops you from staying.

We wanted to have a romantic we, but we didn't. When we arrived, we found hair from previous tenants in the bathroom. This house is old so very poorly sounded and the wooden floors are very noisy. Nice hotels and breakfast in the standard.

Good place!

We arrived at 1560 in the early afternoon and were let in by Raymonde. He showed us to our room and then gave us a pre-paid parking card for the car park around the corner. Our stopover in Middelburg was to re-charge our batteries after a week or so camping in France and Belgium, this was much needed, and we couldn’t have picked a more beautiful and comfortable place. The room we stayed in was at the rear of the house. It was immaculately clean, very comfortable, spacious and warm. It also had a well appointed en-suite stocked with various cleansing products. There is also a well stocked mini-fridge with properly priced (nothing like normal mini bar prices) items including a well needed beer or two! We stayed at 1560 on a Monday night, it seemed that this was a night when everything in the area closed early, including restaurants which wasn’t brilliant for us as all we had was a stale bit of bread and a bit of cheese! However (this is where the title of the review is explained), our hosts arrived home at around 9pm and came to check all was ok with our room etc. It turned out that their son had an accident that day at a school camp and broken his wrist, so they had to go and collect him which is why they were so late properly introducing themselves. When we asked them if there was anything open locally to get something to eat we were informed that there wasn’t but they would be happy to make us a pizza that they had in the fridge. As well as this I realised that I had lost my travel adaptor and couldn’t charge my phone or laptop (free Wi-Fi included in the room) so Raymonde promptly went off and found me a European connection for both and insisted that we keep them.....when we came to pay they refused to take any extra payment for the adaptors or the meal as they were just happy to help! The breakfast served after a great night’s sleep was excellent, with fresh juice and plenty of coffee. We then were introduced to the owner’s pet dachsund, Trudy I think she was called, which was a really nice surprise as we were missing our dog back in the UK. Finally we were then given lots of advice on what to see while we were in the area! We genuinely can’t praise this establishment enough and will definitely be staying again. Terry & Hannah

A great B&B, owned by the nicest people you could ever wish to meet!

The Guesthouse 1560 is a lovely Bed & Breakfast place. We very much enjoyed our overnight stay in Middelburg.
The Guesthouse is well located and the owner Raymonde is very friendly and helpful.
Our room was at the back of the house and had a en-suite shower and toilet. The room was very nice and clean. 
Breakfast was also very good and I would certainly recommend this Bed & Breakfast place.

Great Place!

I spent four nights with my partner in June 2011 in the 1560 Guesthouse and we felt very comfortable here. The B&B has two rooms on the first floor of this very old house, we lived in the larger one that goes out to the back. The rooms are greatly furnished and you notice the love of detail. Although you live in the middle of the family house, due to the unusual architecture, both guests and residents have their privacy. You can meet in the kitchen for a rich and good breakfast. The rooms have wireless and TV as well as a water boiler and an espresso machine. There is really nothing missing. The location on the minutedijk is beautiful and quiet, with the children's window.
