The hotel is amazing; each room is different and decorated exquisitely.  Amina, the woman in charge, was so very helpful, she went with me to the market to show me the best way not to get lost, and then she gave me several tips on where to go for a Hamam, and I was even given a motorcycle ride to Jardins Majorelle!

Our stay in the riad was highly enjoyable! Very clean and newly decorated ( in a traditional style); the staff are very friendly and accommodating! Our every request was met and we felt really looked after.  We found out time very relaxing and if ever in Marrakech again will definitely stay there.

stayed for 5 nights at Riad Tawanza and only returned yesterday. most relaxing and peaceful hotel ever! Amina will look after you better then your mum and will show you around the medina. great terrace and pool; lovely rooms and fantastic food every day. had taxi transfer arranged in advance which comes handy as its quite difficult to find without knowing the place. overall, one of the best city breaks and definitely a place to come back!!

We stayed at Riad Tawanza last weekend for 3 nights and it is a beautiful example of this kind of small hotel that seem to thrive in Marrakech. The rooms are lovely, large and gorgeously decorated with comfy beds and duvets, etc. Amina,our hostess, was fantastic and nothing was too much trouble for her. The food was great, if served a little early at 6.30pm for us, simple Morrocan fare but veyr tasty. The roof garden is lovely for sunbathing and there is a small Hammam, but it's a bit weird to have this donw by Amina and I would probably recommend going to a larger specialist hammam.
Some general tips about both the Riad and Marrakech:
1. Definitely use the Riad to arrange your transfers from the airport as it is not easy to find.
2. if you do use the Riad transfer, try to arrive during daylight hours as we arrived at night in drizzle and were dropped off quite a way from the Riad. We were met by an elderly man with a cart, who took our luggage and we had to then follow him through winding dark and narrow streets to the Riad, which is in a particularly dark long alleyway, so it was very un-nerving for our first visit!
3. Get Amina to be your guide around Marrakech and especially the Souks. She knows everyone and all the best places to buy and is very willing to help wherever we can.
4. If you like a drink with your meal or of an evening, take your alcohol with you. I was amazed, probably naively, that the bars and restaurants in the main Medina do not serve alcohol at all and we had to walk for some miles to buy a bottle of wine to have with our meal! Amina will source this for you and I think an email in advance giving her your requirements would allow her to get this in for you. Don't expect much choice! We ended up going to a hotel and some bars in the main new town for our evening relaxation which is away from the hustle and bustle of the Medina and quieter.
5. It is chilly at night in the Riad because of the building being built to keep out the warmth in the summer and there is no glass in the shuttered windows on the rooms, so take warm clothes! There are extra bed linens in the cupboard so wwe were quite cozy in the end.

All in all, we enjoyed our time at Riad Tawanza but didn't enjoy Marrakech at all. We found it squalid and threatening and not the exotic environment it is lauded to be by many people.

We stayed here for  five nights.  The only negative point about this Riadh is the location.  Because Marrakesh is so old and has v narrow streets it is not possible to get to the Riadh by car.  From the airport our taxi dropped us off in the dark in a narrow alley and we followed a local lad for what seemed like miles, with our luggage, through back alleys, till I was sure that we were going to be mugged or worse!  Eventually, after negotiating a particularly narrow, rubble strewn, dark alley we safely reached the door of the Riadh.  Inside it is beautiful, traditional and peaceful, with only 3 bedrooms.  Our room was large with traditional furnishings and antiques on the walls.  When we accepted that it had all the things you would want in a hotel room but in unusual places e.g. toilet at the end of a long corridor, shower in a recess, wardrobe with a curtain, it was very comfortable.  The bed was on a platform in traditional style. 
Aminah and colleagues cooked simple morrocan food and even offered us wine.  Aminah was also really helpful in booking taxis and trips for us and even accompanied me to the Souk to help me get the best prices for Kaftans, harem pants and a tagine.  Her hammam was excellent.  During the summer months guests can swim in the small pool and sunbathe on the roof, where the hammam room is situated and there is a pretty open lounge area.   

I am happy to recommend this Riah to adventurous travellers - just try to arrive in daylight!

We stayed at three Riads during our stay in Marrakech. This one was meant to be the pamper one where we could relax. Sorry to say it wasn't.

Riad was not ready (no need for details), pool did not work, and works were being done which makes it hard to relax. The other reviews seem positive so maybe it was a bad week, but the fact that it was not able to be addressed during our stay after complaining, meant you felt as if you were paying for their mistakes. 

A full apology and offer of discount next time was received, but there will not be a next time.
