No breakfast included, the bathroom is extremely small, there is no 24-hour service to open the door until you give the key. Very unsafe. The only thing is that the location is very nice and the old, dirty overcuts are very nice.

No is what they say.

A week ago I lived with my daughters a terrible experience with an Airbnb reservation a few meters from Casa Mexicana, after cancelling, my nine-year-old daughter and I went for a walk looking for a place to spend the night, so I met Aidé, one of the people who works at the hotel; despite the hour he searched for the caretaker and juntas gave us a room to change immediately.

Excellent service.

You get to the Quixote Square, but you don't see the hotel anywhere, and that's when the tourist guides arrive and tell you where the hostel is, it's a bit strange that to access the place you have to go through an ice cream shop, already located in the hotel, the place is nice, and has a big advantage that you're walking close to all the sights of the city. it has the disadvantage that there's no parking option but in a public car that raises the cost per day. the staff of the hostel is totally friendly and make you feel good, try to vary the breakfast every day and the lady has an excellent conversation.

The place is confusing.

It's a cozy place where you can meet guests from all over the world, it has good rates, yes, for those who are a bit special about sharing the toilet, I suggest renting a room with a private bathroom.

Very good hostel.

Close to the city centre, in a safe area, with a bus stop nearby, quiet hotel with a very pleasant reception, rooms on different levels including the ground floor, for 2 or 3 people, good address.

Good value for money

It's a hotel with typical Mexican decoration, not much exaggerated. The bathroom is a little small, but without problems. Ideal location, right where the historic center begins, close to restaurants and bars, but very well isolated from the noise.

Pintoresco is a painting.

I spent 9 days in Casa Mexicana with half-pension. I immediately became a part of the family and felt very comfortable. Ayde and Ana are generous cooks, they always tried very variatively to present me the Mexican cuisine which they have done very well. The house is super centrally located at the entrance to the pedestrian zone. Even at night alone is no problem. Guanajuato is very safe. There is a very friendly, family atmosphere in the house. They help with any problems and give advice. The room was quite small and very clean, the communal shower too. The patio is beautiful and the view from the terrace is also. At night there was often very loud music in the neighborhood, but we are in Mexico, yes!!! I felt totally comfortable.

- noisy. It's next to a bar and they partied until 4 am. On Wednesday night.
- depends on your room, it can be a little smelly. The owner first showed me the room on the 1st floor and I did not like it (smelled a little bad) so I asked her if there's any similar on the second floor. And she showed me the one on the second. It was much better.
- in Lonely Planet, it is listed as a budget hotel but I do not think this hostal is a budget accommodation.

I liked it overall

It's a peculiar little hotel, since you share the bathroom and the shower rooms. The rooms are separate and few. But it's cheap and comfortable to stay the night. Not it's luxurious and you don't expect too much. There's a nice little resort downstairs, and a bar next to it so there's no noise. No tan this church is about four blocks away on foot. When we arrived it was very early and there was no one to open us, maybe we spent an hour waiting outside, so it doesn't have a sign that says that the hotel is there. If you want to wake up and arrive late and you have to warn the doorkeeper because they close the door.

Barato, Pintoresco

My sister had stayed here before so I was looking forward to our stay. First impressions were that the hotel was quite run down. Our room on the ground floor had a large area over mould/dampness over one of the beds. The common area on the roof terrace was also a bit shabby.
The hotel is in the centre of the historic city so we were prepared for a level of noise but the bass line of the techno music from a neighbouring bar was rather more than we anticipated. 
The staff were friendly and helpful but I do not feel I could recommend the accommodation to others.
