We had a bit of trouble finding this place, but it was worth the search, and we felt very welcome.  Our cabana was clean and comfortable, with a sitting area on the back porch and a fan.  The cook did an outstanding job with our dinner, and the dining room was a great place to chat with other guests - quite an international group.  We headed on from here to Yaxchilan the next morning.

The family really makes you part of them... this makes you feel really into the ambience. The fish in hija de platano was delicious! We took the night walk and it was really good oportunity to see the stars! 
The family is very nice!! They make you feel part of the family! Justita and enrique are sooo nice and friendly! I believe it to be a mist when you come to the area! The rooms are spacious and the beds clean and really comfortable!  


A very comfortable family run ecolodge. Nothing fancy as it is an ecolodge after all.  Rooms are mostly individual huts. Comfortable with mosquito nets and decent bathrooms with hot water. Well placed to visit ruins of Bonampak (10kms) and the amazing site of Yaxchilan (40mins). Good food and a friendly atmosphere where you meet easily other guests. Excellent water rafting option as well as a jungle walk to the water falls and the "lost city". Photos on @oliviereva

A Comfortable Place on the way to Bonampak

Really amazing!!!

This really is a lovely place with very friendly people. However, it really wasn't right for us and overall we didn't have the best time here. The lodge is run by a family, but only one of them can speak English. Justita was really helpful and friendly and actually really helped us out one day when we ran out of cash, which was much appreciated. No cash machines nearby (it is the jungle after all!), so make sure you stock up for any tours you want to do before you set off to Lacanja. The room was nice enough, rustic just as described on their website - it's pretty much what I expected. The shower was hot and there are hammocks behind the huts to laze about in, very nice. The language barrier I think was the biggest factor affecting our enjoyment of the place - we couldn't really speak to any of the family and to be honest they didn't make much of an effort to help us understand them. If you can speak Spanish you may well have a much better experience than us. The food was really same-y and uninspiring, which was a bit of shame. The tours (we did them all) were nice and - if you're into that sort of thing - I really recommend the rafting!

Good option for staying if you have booked an early rafting in Rio Lacanja.  
Nothing fancy, the rooms could be better mantained,we did not have enough water in the shower.   The Chankin Paniagua family is really kind.
