Alila Kothaifaru Maldives

My wife and I just returned from a 9-night stay at Alila Kothaifaru for our 20th wedding anniversary, and it was the most incredible experience from start to finish. From the moment we stepped off the seaplane, the staff made us feel welcome and cared for. We split our stay between a beach villa and an overwater sunset villa. While the beach villa was surrounded by lush greenery and very private, the mosquitoes in the outdoor bathroom/pool area were a bit bothersome. Once we moved to the overwater villa, though, we felt like we were in a dream—stunning views, peaceful vibes, and total serenity. That’s definitely where we’ll stay for our full visit next time! Our host Yunus was beyond helpful—he handled everything from snorkeling gear to dining reservations and even helped get medicine when I wasn’t feeling well. The service across the board was outstanding. The food deserves its own review! It was hands down some of the best we’ve ever had. Arya at the Yakitori Bar went above and beyond—his cocktails were amazing, and he surprised us with fresh coconut water on the beach and even gifted us homemade coconut oil. The chefs, Bhupendra and Frank, regularly checked in and whipped up special dishes not even on the menu. Cherry at Sea Salt remembered how my wife liked her coffee and had it ready without even asking—small touches like that made all the difference. We also enjoyed chatting with Danilo and Salam, who made us feel right at home. One of the general managers, Jamal, sent a resort hat to our room after we talked about my travel collection—such a thoughtful gesture that meant a lot. We left with full hearts and unforgettable memories. Alila Kothaifaru is the perfect blend of natural beauty, luxury, and genuine hospitality. We already can’t wait to return.
