Airport Alba Inn

Stayed here in June 2012 for one week and thought it was quite nice. It's not a resort and a little basic compared, but it's clean and it does what you pay for incl a balcony. It's centrally located in Hulhumale, a local island, very close to the beach, shops and restaurants. I did not expect luxurious accommodation and I am also aware of the traditions in Maldives so for me it was quite comfortable. For some reason I slept very well, better then in some of the resorts I have been and being able to get Maldivian breakfast at the downstairs restaurant at 11:00 - 12:00 was just perfect for me.

Basic but nice

Hi all,

My wife and I stayed in this hotel on our way to Holiday Inn Kandooma. It is on the same island as the airport. It is a 10min ride from the airport on the other side of the island. That part of the island was relatively new.

The inn itself is a very narrow building and we were given the room on the topmost floor. The room was small but clean with a good working AC. Bathroom was in acceptable condition as well. There was an attached living area with a balcony which was a plus point. The inn is 5 minutes walk to the beach and 10min walk to convenient stores. There are no places to eat at night nearby except the inn itself and it did not seem appealing. The complimentary breakfast was just okay and nothing special. The hotel service was good to say the least and the staff seemed to be as accommodating as much as possible.

When we went for a walk in the morning, we found the area to be very nice with nice wide roads and trees on either sides and with shops. It seemed that it was well planned. 

We did visit the main island via boat to have dinner. It was nice Italian place whose I cant recall. However, I do remember that the prices were all in US Dollars and it was a bit expensive. We checked out some other restaurants nearby where the prices were in US Dollars as well.

The taxi ride from Alba Inn to the Jetty and back was pretty expensive, but we had no choice because we had to have dinner since we were really hungry after 8 hours of travelling.

If I do return to Maldives again, I will stay in the main island since the Jetty is just outside the airport so arriving tourists can hop on to a boat and go the main island (a 10-15min ride) where there are more hotels and better dining options.
