Our room was very comfortable and the hosts were very friendly. We were here only 1 night, and then traveled further. But for longer stays it's close to Waterford (by car). Breakfast was excellent; a lot of choice. A cosy pub a short walk away (without food).

We booked last minute and were not disappointed. Room was very clean and quiet, beds were comfortable.  Breakfast was very tasty.  Parking on site. The location was ideal for us on outskirts of Waterford. Definitely recommend and would stay again if in area.

Benny and staff made us us feel like company while we spent 9 days at Diamond Hill Country House.  They could have not been more accommodating.  They were always available at all hours.  Them made our time in Waterford even more pleasant.  We will plan on returning there and and for an extended time.  You should as well.  Roger and Jane P., USA

We were in Waterford for a sporting event and stayed here for one night. It was ideal for what we wanted. Peaceful & quiet, spacious room and really comfortable beds.  Breakfast was lovely, we would loved to have had the Full Irish (its smelt divine being cooked & what we seen looked amazing). We had cereal and the scrambled eggs and brown bread which was all lovely.
Staff were all very nice.  Grounds looked amazing but unfortunately there was a 'status yellow warning' out for the rain so we never got to experience them.

The warmest of welcomes from Benny and his amazing team. Nothing was too much trouble. Breakfast was amazing, greeted with a lovely smile from the ladies every morning and excellent service, lovely soda bread, great sausages and rashers and cooked to perfection. The room was large, bright and airy, and a large en suite, all spotlessly clean. The bed was so comfortable it was a struggle to get out of it in the morning! Benny was kind enough to give us a lift into town on a couple of mornings when the weather was on the wet side. However, there is a bus service and it's only a 20 minute walk into town downhill. There are a couple of nice pubs within walking distance too. A great stay, can't wait to come back.

A beautiful and very quiet country location very close to the center of Waterford.  Benny and his family are very welcoming and made me feel at home.  The breakfast were excellent.  A very short trip to downtown Waterford (about three miles).  There is a local pub a very short walk away.  Most likely you will be the only non- regular at the pub.  You are in country but so close to the city.

Stayed 2 nights in fabulous accommodation.Warm welcome from hosts on arrival and shown to wonderful spacious room with spotless en-suite bathroom.comfy beds and no noise from outside.Breakfast homemade to order and scrumptious,won’t hesitate to return.

This was the one accommodation place that we hadn't booked in advance, I found it on TripAdvisor and also booking.com and we booked it from there. And it absolutely did not disappoint! 

Really friendly, warm welcome as soon as we walked in, nothing was too much and the recommendation for dinner was great. The rooms were huge and comfortable, with a lovely, modern bathroom. 

Beautiful view from the room (we had a room facing the back) and a lovely view at the front too. 

It isn't in Waterford town itself but it's only a short drive, there is an Aldi near by and a small, gorgeous pub within walking distance for a drink. 

Would definitely recommend! 

An excellent location with ample room to park the car and not far to carry the suitcase. Very friendly welcome, comfortable clean and spacey room with a good bathroom. Just what was needed after a drive down from Dublin avoiding the motorway and taking in the sights of the Wicklow Mountains on the way.  Great breakfast the next morning set us up for the next days travel to Kerry.

If you don't travel by car, don't bother. Otherwise, mixed feelings.

This review is a bit tricky. There are a few things we didn't like, but there were also a few things we enjoyed a lot.

Great:

~There was a room with a clean microwave and toaster, as well as plates, bowls and silverware for all guests to use. This was the only place we went to who offered this during our three week vacation with multiple different lodgings. It was a great advantage and handy at times.

~The staff was great, friendly and helpful. Casual relaxed atmosphere.

~Even though other reviews criticized this, we slept really well in the bed (room #7). We did not detect any mildew / mold in the shower. Everything was clean and the cleaners did a brilliant job. It was very quiet, both during the day and night. It was cheaper compared to other options in Waterford city center.

~The music in the breakfast room was good and the scrambled eggs on toast were perfectly cooked.

Not so great:

~The electric kettle in the room did not have a fully enclosed heating element. The spiral was coated with something that wasn't supposed to be there and did not look trustworthy.

~We did not have hot water in the shower. It was only lukewarm at best so we chose not to shower at all (we saw an electrician leaving one day, so maybe there was a problem. We understand that the house and piping is probably old and this is tricky). The hot tap on the sink was fine.

~The breakfast was a bit underwhelming after we were spoiled by other B&Bs. Staff was not doing a bad job, but it took quite a long time until our order was delivered. Also, there weren’t as many options on the menu and no buffet besides a few cereals and muesli. The fruit juice didn't taste like real fruit juice. And the smell of greasy fried food from the kitchen was a bit much.

Issues we encountered during the stay that might be caused by the location, not the B&B itself. This is purely to be of help for some people but is not considered in the rating:

~This might have been our own fault because we probably made a mistake with our lack of experience, but we ordered a meal delivery one time and the driver could not find the address. We are still puzzled but the address lacks a proper street name and street number so the online ordering process was not easy. Another order we tried was cancelled without explanation and we stayed hungry that night.

There are no options for eating out nearby if you don’t have a car. Really, If you don't have a car, you are going to have a bad time. You will be in the middle of a beautiful rural area with low traffic. This is irritating and you need to come prepared. The Aldi is within walking distance but it takes some time to get there and back.

~There is a bus supposed to stop close by. However, we only saw the bus driving outward from Waterford city centre, not inbound. Google Maps said there was a bus stop and a bus schedule. There isn’t one. The receptionist said that there was a bus, but we saw no evidence of it going inbound. We even contacted the bus company about the bus schedule. We had no opportunity to talk to any driver. There were also no visible bus stop signs which is confusing. One time, we tried to order an Uber taxi, and while we were waiting and it was only 8 minutes away from us, it changed course and started to go in the opposite direction. The waiting time increased to 20 minutes. Since we assumed that the driver had picked up another client, we canceled the trip. We booked a real taxi company (Rapid Taxi Waterford) for our trip to the station on our final day. We were a bit unsure about it since we received no confirmation, but they were on point and we had a smooth ride. Assume that you’re going to be far out in the country and essentially stranded without your own transportation.

All in all, lovely staff. Less breakfast options than other places. We did not hate it, but we won't come back if we're not traveling by car.

Great jumping off point for Waterford if you have a car.

Stayed for one night on my trip around the Sunny South East. We had a very warm welcome on arrival and a quick and easy check in. The room we got was a very big spacious room at the front with a wonderful big window with a beautiful view. The bed was comfortable and got a good sleep. The only downside in my opinion was breakfast I thought the quality of product was poor and has massive room for improvement and maybe add so baked beans and or mushrooms to it. It hasn’t put me off my stay and I would happily stay again and would recommend it to others.

Absolute gem of a place! 

Just what was needed

Four of us (two parents and two adult ‘children’) stayed at Diamond Hill Country House for one night on 5 June 2019. We had two rooms both of which were large and possessing the amenities one would expect from a bed and breakfast establishment. We used Diamond Hill Country House as a base to visit Waterford a few kilometres away. The attraction here for two family members was Waterford House of Crystal which did not disappoint them. Waterford itself was rather bleak and underwhelming (as distinct from the rest of Ireland we visited) so we were not concerned being accommodated just over 5km from the city centre. We had travelled down from Dublin focussing on back country roads, taking the opportunity to visit the monastic site at Glendalough and Wicklow National Park which made the trip to the south-east well worthwhile for all of us. We enjoyed the breakfast at Diamond Hill Country House.
