The Schooner Tavern

Travelled to county cork to see extended family, Looked at the hotels and the like and was drawn to the pictures of the schooner in Ballycotton, not my normal type of choice at all but could not be happier with the outcome. Yep it’s the same as the picture… blue. Parking is a bit erratic as per other posts but at worst there is a car park on the edge of the village. The schooner is a pub with 4 rooms. Basic rooms but clean rooms. We paid 300 quid to stay in a upmarket Hilton 2 weeks prior and spent less than 5 hours on premises. Who sits in their rooms ? So as long as you have a bed and a shower job done. Every day we went out, saw family or did touristy things before coming back to the schooner and just chilling in the bar drinking murphys. We ate there every night the kitchen was open.. home made burgers were awesome however we had just completed a long day travelling so struggled to finish. Chicken goujons, steak, paninis all get a tick from us. We don’t do fish but we saw loads served and no one complained. There are more pubs in the village and a couple of restaurants but we never felt we needed to look elsewhere. We have family on ballycotton, I had no idea until I told the wife where I had booked.
