Hotel Deutscher Flieger

We stopped overnight at the Wasserkuppe on our way back from Slovakia. I had pre-booked the hotel a couple of weeks previously. The hotel itself is an annexe to the adjacent Hotel Restaurant Peterchens Mondfahrt where our meals were taken. Our room was spacious and it seemed that the en-suite bathroom had been pre-fabricated and placed in the corner of our room. Nothing wrong with this but it seemed a bit strange. WiFi was provided foc and was fast. The Hotel Deutscher Flieger is actually the upstairs part of a building which has shops and cafes on the ground floor. As stated elsewhere, the building is themed on vintage gliders, for which the Wasserkuppe is world famous. Directly opposite is the equally famous gliding museum which tells the story of our sport in Germany ever since its inception over 100 years ago. A fascinating place to visit. Service was friendly and efficient and the owner spoke excellent English. The food in the restaurant was very good indeed but pricey compared to the Czech republic from where we had driven. There is lots to do besides gliding at the Wasserkuppe and it was a shame that the weather was so poor during our visit. Certainly a place to visit again!
