What one would always want from a hostel: spacious common spaces, friendly staff, excellent quality/price. Ah, free coffee. Excellent location, cheerful events and activities, good vibe. It would be very unfair to ask for more; those who want a hostel with terrace and pool on the 8th floor, but without personality, to stay in the Poblado.

A hostel with alma.

I originally only planned to stay for 2 nights but ended up staying for 2 weeks instead. Very friendly and welcoming staff who are also happy to help and recommend things to do. 
All bio security measures are in place for COVID and are actually adhered to unlike some other hostels I have stayed at recently. A cleaner goes through the place daily which is assuring. Not overly lively at this time due to the current climate with COVID but a great place to stay regardless. Front door is always locked and there is full cctv throughout. 
Would definitely stay here again. 

Great staff and great location 

Stayed during the middle of the week so it was pretty dead. I was able to sleep well, the location was excellent (walking distance to La 70, great for bars and street food). The front door is locked and you have to be buzzed in which was great for security. Most of the staff proficiently spoke English, but that shouldn't be expected if you're traveling to a Spanish speaking country (the world does not revolve around English speaking Americans, y'all). Great price/will stay again.

Decent AF

I spent 5 nights at this hostal in April of this year-2019...First of all,to be positive,the staff at this hostal were super friendly and helpful and were always available to give assistance with onward accommodation bookings for the rest of my stay in Colombia....However,sleep was a big problem for me at this place.I booked a private room and,upon check-in,was shown to my room.The room was on the ground floor and was called " Equador "...If you value your sleep AVOID THIS ROOM.The room in question was directly opposite the communal kitchen and diagonally opposite the bar-yes,this hostal does have a bar....The bar didn't close until 12 midnight each night but the loud talk didn't stop then-it continued until 1 am...on one occasion until 1.20 am.Sleep was absolutely impossible until 1 am at the earliest each night.On my first morning the cleaning lady arrived at 5.10 am and proceeded to drag garbage bags out of the kitchen...Therefore on my first night I slept only between 1 and 5 am....This was  not enough for me and was not value for money as I had paid 74,500 pesos for the room....I cannot say what sleep quality was like elsewhere in the hostal as I stayed in this room only but I can't imagine it was much better....The room itself was dirty and didn't appear to have been properly cleaned in a while-I dropped something on the floor and when I retrieved it there was a bunch of human hairs stuck to it....On another occasion I was drying my face with a towel and it was then that I noticed that the towel was very dirty.Had somebody used it to wipe their shoes?....It certainly seemed so.I didn't dare use the bedclothes provided..Fortunately,I had my own.This is a lively,friendly place but travellers need sleep-not to mention a clean room...Despite the friendly staff already mentioned I cannot recommend this place.I can only give it 3 out of 10...will not return.

Extremely poor sleep quality....dirty room

This place is great both for locals and travelers who stay in Medellin for short or long term. They have great free events all week from weekly salsa lessons, karaoke, comedy night, open mic, to weekly language exchanges in a bar which allows breaking the ice with the friendly people from this city. The whole staff is friendly, helpful and they know a lot about the area and give great suggestions for trips and things to do. Cheers mates!

Cosy and funny place!

The incredible stay at the hostel has the perfect combination of fun, relaxation, good people and good vibes.The common areas are very nice and comfortable to interact with people and is very well located.

On my way through this hostel I met great people from the workers to the other guests, fun, healthy, cheerful people, with a desire to do good tourism and always the local employees helped and cared for all my needs, it's a very quiet and fun environment at the same time, perfect for living a good experience in Medellin.

An excellent place, a super pleasant atmosphere, where you feel always welcomed, protected and especially happy.They share very special moments, moderate prices and a super well-located place.

The best sharing experience.

This place is the coolest. They have great free events all week from salsa lessons,  karaoke, music, to language exchanges. I stayed in one of their private rooms. The whole staff is super helpful and they know a lot about the area and give great suggestions for trips and things to do. I can't recommend them enough!

Best hostel in Medellín!!

I came back here after 5 years and it is still great, they just remodeled the bar and even have some of the same staff members. The karaoke night hadn't changed in 5 years and thats a good thing! If you want to meet locals, this is the spot to be! The accomodation is basic but clean and everything you need for 8 dollars a night! (Dollar is so strong now). I'll be back again but hopefully wont have to wait 5 years!
