Zuoan Art Hotel

After getting scammed by the cab driver with an impromptu ride from the airport (meaning he picked us up randomly and tried to charge us 200rmb where if he ran the meter it would only be 20-30rmb). It is a short ride from the airport area and is nestled between a booming shopping area and a sleepy town. The Area The hotel is nestled in a private living area that has two entrances. One is on a main street, the other is next to the dried up riverbed. There is barely anyone there, which makes me believe that is a virtually unknown area in development. There are town homes nearby but no one is really living in them and it is very quiet during the day and evening so don't worry about the noise level. The Hotel When you walk in it is a very art deco type of place heavily decorated with random pieces of art and design. There is a bar off to the right but I doubt anyone is ever there. *When you book, be careful on what you get because you could pay more for a large suite and not really get it. The photos on Booking are very misleading and the bigger suites are actually on the top floor. The Room The room was nice, it was hard figuring out the cable TV (the remote was running out of juice and they had a lot of channels that didn't work) the internet is great, you don't need a password for it. Downstairs is the living space and there is a balcony. Be careful of the mosquitoes they are terrible. Upstairs is the sleeping area and bathroom, and that was honestly the best shower and sleep you will get in Qingdao. The comfort level is high. Staff Staff was very pleasant even though there is a language barrier. Through motions and hand gestures we powered through it. You will need the hotel to arrange a taxi pick up mainly because you are in a set back area. Overall this is a great hotel. I would highly recommend it!
