Chez Steve Residence Kyle Mio

I booked the residence on Hotels.com, and then contacted Steve via Whatsapp. He's very responsive and answered my questions, and confirmed that I would be picked up when I arrive Easter Island. When I arrived, a taxi driver picked me up and took me to the place. I booked a triple room for single use for two nights. The residence is just north of town center, about 10-15 minutes walking distance. The last bit after you turn into the street is not paved, and then you'll reach the place. The room was spacious and clean. I slept on the single bed (it's actually larger than that), because I was just one person. I slept really well the two nights I was there, the blanket was very comfortable and warm. What's wonderful was the hospitality from Steve's wife. She was absolutely amazing. She explained what I needed to know in terms of breakfast - and even packed a sandwich with fruit and water for my sunrise tour! One more thing, they are only a short walking distance to Ahu Tahai for the famous sunset, so I went two nights in a row. It was a perfect end to the evening. I will definitely choose this place again for my next trip - 'cause I'm going back! For those of you who are considering this place, here are some tips: 1. When you enter Easter Island, you have to fill out a form and indicate the place you have booked. As of September 2019, they are listed in the drop down as "Departamento Turistico Kylie Mio". The migration police had a difficult time finding this place when I left Santiago, but we eventually did. 2. I'd buy a local SIM card to use. Entel is the one that has 4G service on the island, but even that is spotty and slow. When I was there, storms had knocked out their wifi, so it's safer to have a SIM card. 3. This is not a five-star hotel, so please don't expect it to be such. However, it is a spacious and clean place with wonderful hospitality so enjoy.
