Contrary to the information from Hotels.com, there was no daily room cleaning. The apartment was in good condition and is very centrally located. At night there is security watching the building.

Apartment in Santa Maria

Very nice stays in Sal during my trip here. Great location just next to the beach with very hospitable staffs made it more enjoyable. I cooked a lot thanks to the supplements of the kitchen equipments. I will recommend to the people who wish to enjoy a nice holiday in Sal. Next time I hope I can have to budget to book the sea view room which will must be amazing! Thank you Sara and the cleaning ladies who keep this place very clean and nice!

Nice place with very hospitable staffs

The apartments are in a great location, right on the beach (north of Santa Maria). We had an apartment with 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms, with sea views and a beautiful terrace. Unfortunately the apartment is quite old and, above all, the bathrooms/shows need a renovation. The beds are uncomfortable, the mattresses are stretched and it squeezes with every little movement. Everything is kept very clean. The two young people who take care of the reception are very friendly and helpful.

Well l would like AC in all the rooms in the apartment. Some apartment only had AC in the living room. Therefore making sleeping at night very uncomfortable.

Great location, right next to some lovely restaurants. View from balcony was amazing - back door to the apartments opens onto the beach. 

Staff were very friendly. Apartment was excellent, nicely decorated, kitchen appliances all good quality, kettle, dishwasher etc.

If you book the Penthouse you’ll get the roof terrace with nice views of the sunset across the pier.

Quite a lot of noise transfer between the top and bottom floor bedrooms - overall couldn’t have been happier with it.


Fantastic views & location

Our stay in Villa ao Mar was the highlight of our holiday to Cape Verde.  After enduring a miserable start in another property which we literally ran out of (see my review of Porta do Vento), this transformed our holiday and ensured our last few days were perfect.

Ivan from Sal Beach Club recommended Villa ao Mar when we told him that we urgently needed somewhere to stay for the last few nights of our trip.  He kindly sent staff to other hotels in the area to try to find somewhere for us.  Unsurprisingly, they were all full as it was Christmas but thankfully, he recommended here and we were so delighted that he did.

Arianna - the property manager - left a family dinner to come out to meet us and put me on the phone to the lovely Italian owner, Paolo, who negotiated an excellent last minute rate for us.  Arianna is a delight to deal with - friendly and professional.  She brought us up to our apartment and we were stunned at the quality, cleanliness and attention to detail.  We even had our own roof terrace with 360 degree views of the island.  It was on 3 floors with 2 bathrooms, 2 bedrooms and a huge kitchen. It was such a relief to be able to enjoy what could have been a ruined holiday had we not found Villa ao Mar.

The sign outside (from Booking.com, if I remember correctly) gave the property 4.8 stars - my partner was totally bewildered by this score saying "this is a 6 star property, at least"!!  And I would have to agree.  We have stayed in some amazing properties over the years around the world and this is up there with the best of them.

I could go on an on but honestly, the place is second to none.  Many, many thanks again to Paolo, Arianna and Valter for making our stay so enjoyable in the end.

Simply Exceptional

After reading great reviews had high hopes for this place. Such a let down would not recommend to my subscribers. The hosts don't speak much English. There was a issue with towels and a charge of 10euro for them to be cleaned before due date. There is allot of colorism issues on Island I have been advised by locals and lovely people I met from Germany and Italy. This was displayed by members of staff working their at times, such a shame. As a guest would have expected better. The rooms are clean, however the facilities are slightly outdated compared to other apartments . Preffered my stay at Melia Torgua. If you are someone who likes access to beach then this place is for you, there are no irons or washing machines so you will pay for your laundry to be cleaner or clean it yourself. Thank god they are building Barcelo Hotel opposite. Hopefully show this place what good customer service is, I should know I'm a platinum member. Basically would not recommend.

Average Stay

We chose a beachside apartment and we didn't regret it. The apartment consists of 2 bedrooms on the ground floor with 2 bathrooms and 2 bedrooms on the ground floor with a bathroom. A terrace accessible from the living room-kitchen and another from the ground floor. Magnificent location with sea view and the building is located on the beach! The building is very well located close to restaurants, bars and other activities. The manager is very nice and available! The apartment is well equipped.

Privileged situation

One of the problems was that we left the towels at the door and we were robbed, we were told that this could happen, but also that the door had a security guard at night, which made me more calm, since it's a quiet island, and without stress, except for the part on the beach that was just dogs.

Good conditions. Excellent location.

A modern, functional and comfortable apartment with a large terrace directly on the beach, very attentive and professional Paolo and Arianna.
