Hotel located in the center of the city in a very nice house. Room was very nicely decorated, with a lot of space. Had dinner in the restaurant which was also a great experience. Staff (both hotel and restaurant) are very friendly and helpful.  An absolute positive experience.

Fantastic

I am amazed to read the Deception and forgetting notice, because I too attended this original day and was delighted. Spending the afternoon among the various exhibitors: desserts, clothing accessories, hairstyles,... and even massages! then a lively dinner, it is obviously not the classic restaurant formula, nor the occasion for a small intimate dinner, but it was just the charm.

Surprised.

A fish lunch accompanied by an excellent exotic white wine and you're shark-infested. The atmosphere is really clear/dark with big, immense, glossy ones that emit a pleasant, flexible light for a friendly, discreet meal. The kitchen is open and the service is done by the smiling boss.

Party lunch!

We had booked a table in this restaurant and since we were there, we took advantage of it to spend the night there. The room is very large, as is the bathroom. The decoration, the furniture, the choice of colors,... everything is made to have a good time. At the booking, I reported that it was a wedding anniversary and the manager offered me to decorate the room. Before we arrived I called to ask for a bouquet of roses in the room and my wife was amazed at the welcome we had and to see the room had been prepared. The next day we had a wonderful breakfast laid out in front of the door of the room at the right time. We had to pay attention to the manager.

It's a perfect stay.

Nice decorated restaurant with open cushion itself that gives life to the place, not bad at all. Interesting card and good composition. We decided to take the menu 3 service. Nickel in the mouth, duck for my par was very good and very well presented too cooked but not dry, very good filling and delicious juice. My companion opts for salmon, delicious nothing to say. But to receive the afterwards it is better to be patient and not to be upset if all the tables arrived after you, that is already at the dessert (1h30). The dishes arrived as well as bad, low temperature lambs perfect full of delicious fillings very good cuisine one croquet of potatoes too much too little.

Good frame, good overall but service to improve

The house itself is absolutely fabulous and looks out over Verviers. We arrived before our room was ready but the lady owner kindly offered to take our luggage in the meantime.  She also gave us a handy guide book and directions for the chocolate museum (also a must see!) so that we could spend our afternoon in the town.  When we returned later, our room was ready and was just beautiful -  very clean with a nice large bathroom too.  A nice touch was that we were offered a drink 'on the house' which we took on the outside terrace upstairs.  Perfect for a late sunny afternoon.

Dinner was an experience in itself and what I can only describe as affordable fine dining.  We had a duck starter, with a carrot & fennel salad served with mandarin sauce, followed by fillet of warrior fish with a red vermouth & butter sauce and finally strawberries in a tomato consommé with basil & black pepper and a little bit of vanilla ice cream.  I can honestly say I've never tasted food as tasty and rich as this was.  Absolutely delicious plus the meal is cooked next to you in the open kitchen and then described to you by the chef upon serving.  Just the most amazing experience and one I will not forget.

The breakfast was another experience not to be forgotten - plenty of choice all served at your table - coffee, juice, yoghurt, eggs, pastries, fresh fruit and even chocolate tart.  There's no way you can leave hungry!

I cannot rate this place highly enough but it's definitely a restaurant with rooms rather than a hotel with a restaurant.  My only suggestion to anyone visiting is that it will definitely add to your experience if you can at least speak some conversational french - but even if you can't, stay here anyway you won't regret it.

An absolute gem of a find!

But what a beautiful place, what a wonderful welcome, what a wonderful quality of products, what an original preparation. We have followed them since their establishment in Spa more than 20 years ago, they keep climbing the ladder. Always the joy of going there. Chic and warm. We got married there four years ago, celebrated our wedding anniversary every year for our greatest happiness. And yet we are not married to anyone;-)

Never disappointed, always a plus.

We have stayed for 1 night at the Au Clair Obscur in the end of October, the house is beautiful and the trees in Autumn colors made the scenario even more romantic.
Unfortunately the restaurant does not open on Sundays so we could not try it, but the person who welcomed us in the B&B was very friendly and indicated many options of restos in the region (make sure to make a reservation before going to any restaurant in the region). 
The breakfast was amazing, with fresh breads, croissants, eggs with truffles and so on.. really worth trying.
The location is great, Spa is very near and there are many things such as walks, small villages, thermal baths, wellness, etc. I highly recommend this place.

Cozy and romantic place with friendly owners

We arrived late, around 21.30, but we were still able to have a meal - which was delicious. The rooms, including the bathrooms are spacious, clean, cosy and beautiful. Very comfortable beds, a good breakfast and super friendly and accommodating staff. 

The price for the room (EUR 95 including tax) is lower than one could expect for such accommodation, and the total (including dinner and breakfast) is a good deal for a great experience.
